This is a nicely made product. I bought it to trace the cables in my downstairs lighting circuit and it worked extremely well in that capacity despite the manual saying it's not suitable for tracing 240V cable runs. Just make really sure you have removed all the power before tracing the circuit. It helped me find the location of a phase (live) to earth short circuit. It also traces RJ45 (LAN) and RJ11 (telephone) cables. Basically it works well on any two wire cable network, so it's extremely good value for money and I highly recommended it. No batteries are supplied so you need to order two 9V AED batteries

Was looking for something to test and trace some ethernet cabling. Not going to be used often so needed to be at a good price point which this meets. i remove batteries as its not in regular use. so having a screw to the battery compartments is a pain but not the end of the world. Does what its supposed to do and I'm sure some folk will find fault with its they are expecting top notch professional kit. This isn't it but it doesn't need to be and suits my needs perfectly.

the cable locator seems to pick up a mains buzz even outside and the tone is mixed in with that,ok it works of sorts but as a cable locator not brilliantit works better testing ethernet cables

Great bit of kit for the price. I work with data cabling a lot and my old but much more expensive tester broke so I thought I would try out a cheapy. Wasn't disappointed. Feals a bit cheap but for price wasn't expecting much. I would recommend this item.

It would be ideal if the battery compartment did not require a screw. As this is going to be seldom used I do not want to leave battery in all the time. Speaking of the battery compartment it is a very tight fit and fiddly to get battery in.

Bought this for a big networking job. Saved about 5 hours of work! Very easy to use and could not fault their use ability and performance. Great product, just wish I knew about them sooner for previous jobs!

Best bit of networking kit I've bought in a long time. Also the wire tracker works better than dedicated units I've previously bought from eBay.

Well it work fine for about two job I had checking network cables I had made and scanning a group of RJ45’s in a switch then it got very hot burnt the circuit board and is now not working. So if you got two jobs should be fine.
