This is indeed fairly stable and locks in place with "teeth" built into the joints. I use it upside down, suspending a b-roll sony camera from it and attaching a microphone with another clamp mount connected to the Rubay and it is stable and does not move position when touched, though of course it does wiggle if you bump it. Some reviewers stated that the rotation was locked on some of the extension joints and this isn't true exactly, if you loosen the "nut" then simply try and turn it, yes, it is locked from rotating by the internal teeth. But if you separate the joint slightly you can then turn it, then push it back together it will lock in the new position of the teeth. The rotation increment is limited by the teeth, say 10 degrees or so, so if you need finer precision/adjustment than that it will be an issue, but I just adjust the mount to the ceiling a bit to compensate for fine angle position, not really an issue. You can also use the little ball joint at the end for fine adjustments so overall it works nice. Overall it is a decent piece of equipment that I think will last for a while in the studio.

All metal, no wobble. I use this for overhead shots and it actually stays where I put it—none of that slow drift you get with plastic arms. The ball head locks tight, C-clamp grips solid. Comes with the adapters you need. It's heavy, but that's the point. If you're shooting overhead or need a reliable mount that won't betray you mid-session, grab this.

Nice product. Very well made. Only negative is the screws to tighten it up are too short so I'm going to have to use a block to tighten it up. Not a deal breaker. Wish I could have gotten one 12 inches taller .

This thing is weak and broke after the first month. Its also clunky and not easy to adjust.

I bought this just to hold a light over my desk for streaming, and was stunned at how this thing is engineered. First, the packaging is like something you'd pay $1000 for -- ultra fancy box with outer sleeve lining and super-sturdy foam inserts. Even the tiny zip bag that holds the hardware is a super-thick ply plastic. The arm itself is (again) insanely engineered. First, it assembles very easily and all the necessary tools are included. All the crucial pieces are full-on metal -- no plastic points of failure here -- and the design smartly accommodates any thickness of desk. And you can mount it on a wall, if you're into that sort of thing. Next, the arm articulates very well, although remains fixed once you've set it; you have to unscrew the adjustment knobs if you want to move it again. But this is to accommodate very heavy objects you might attach to it (not my $10 plastic LED light -- LOL). You can safely attach a pricey camera to this and not have to worry. Just an amazing product all around, and you can tell the manufacturers put a lot of thought and care into it.

Very easy to install and adjust to your exact requirements. Good clamps for attachment to a wide range of thickness desk/table tops. All metal with excellent fit and finish. Not inexpensive but a very good value. Highly recommended.

I do a lot of product photography so I was attracted by the design of this table-mounted articulating arm when I first saw it. It seemed ideal for overhead lighting and photography. The product arrived handsomely packaged within a two-layer, sleeved, sturdy box with all components snuggly nestled in custom-fit soft foam insert. It includes the arm, the two-piece c-clamp mounting bracket, the hardware to assemble the bracket (2 mount screws with associated end gaskets, 6 screws, a hex wrench, and small Phillips head screwdriver), a 1/4 inch ball mount, 3/8" and 5/8" adapters, and a well-illustrated color Installation guide. The all-metal composition gives the arm a quality feel. The vertical arm connected to the c-clamp bracket is telescopic for an additional 9.75" height. I really like that the two folding elbows have teeth, so that when tightened with their wing nuts they resist slippage. The outer tip of the arm has a 1/4" thread screw that fits most photographic accessories, with the provided adapters allowing connection to other thread sizes. I particularly appreciate that it also has a "baby pin" mount. I happen to have a large (22") ring light that only attaches to a baby pin mount. Although it came with a lightweight tripod with the supporting baby pin mount, the ring-light/tripod is primarily designed for vertical selfie work, and it becomes top-heavy when angled downward for overhead lighting. This boom arm allows it to be used more effectively for my intended use. There are two weaknesses to the design of this assembly, both of which involve the two-piece table-mount c-clamp, which must be assembled. Although heavy duty, the metal of the clamp itself is soft, and the machining of two of the screw holes did not match well with the hardened stainless steel screws provided, so the screws began to strip the holes during initial assembly. Another reviewer had the same experience. I had to reinsert the screws from the back side to bore them out again. After way too much work, I was finally able to put the bracket together. Another machining issue is that where the vertical rod of the arm screws into the c-clamp there are only three threads, and when fully tightened the arm assembly faces the wrong direction by about 190-200 degrees. There is no way to correct for that, because the telescoping joint doesn't allow rotation, only lengthening. So, the screw connection had to be rotated backwards (unscrewed 190-200 degrees) for use on my table, which loosens and weakens the connection. This was also noted by another reviewer. I'm not sure I would trust that connection to support a heavy and expensive camera.

The build quality is excellent. The only drawback is the table mount — attaching or removing it can be a bit difficult. If they introduced an easier mechanism for this, it would be perfect.

Ok so i never ever write reviews but i had to do it for this product because it’s genuinely amazing, and one of the best mount arms i’ve ever used. Build quality is amazing. Great quality. I’ve now bought 6 of these and everything is mounted using these. It’s holding up a DSLR, a sizeable studio light with a giant 90cm softbox. 15.5” LED panels, plus a few other things with ease! The joints have great actuation but they lock completely into place at certain intervals. Each segment can be rotated too so i’ve been able to find a great position for every item i’ve needed to mount. Great product. Highly highly recommend. And with the 10% voucher it’s great value for money too.
