A great idea ! Easy to use . Great to feel safe in the home .
What a handy device . Quick dispatch with this item. Compact alarm with straight forward instructions . I didn't know you could get a gas alarm so I am installing this as I now have a gas cooker . We have smoke alarms so this makes sense to have a gas alarm too . I would recommend this to everyone .. handy size means that you can take anywhere with you eg caravans or holiday cottages . Also it plugs in so no batteries required . I shall certainly tell my friends and family about this alarm.

Great device that works well
I was initially skeptical about this product having read some horror stories about some equally inexpensive (though different models/manufacturers) gas detectors that were clearly dysfunctional and unreliable, but I'm delighted to report that this one works, and it works well.I suspected that I had a small gas leak in the kitchen but the smell of gas wasn't always apparent so I couldn't be quite sure. After opening the kitchen door/windows to ventilate any gas present, I plugged in the detector and it sampled the air for a few minutes. The display then gradually climbed from "1" to "3" (it goes from "0" to "9" depending on the concentration of gas) and the alarm sounded. Later, a gas engineer confirmed that there was indeed a gas leak and fixed the problem. I tried the detector again and was relieved to see the display remain resolutely at "0". In short, this gas detector works.A word of caution though. As this is a mains-powered device, don't plug it in and switch it on if you think you already have a large gas leak, as switching on electrical devices in the presence of gas is obviously a bad idea! For smaller leaks like the one I had, thoroughly ventilate the room beforehand then use the detector to see if the gas builds up over time.As Karen Goodman mentions in her review, ideally you should regard this gas detector as you would a smoke alarm.

great device, good price
this is a really good little alarm, arrived quickly and it did work to detect a gas leak, so it did it's job. the only slight criticism would be the instructions- although the device is really easy to use and figure out the poorly-translated instructions make it more complicated than it needs to be ie they need to be translated to a higher standard and that would make it a really easy 5* review

How much do you value your life?
Easy to install and very sensitive. Our propane gas cooker has a flexible hose connection. The hose is about 16 years old. I rolled the cooker out on its castors to enable me to work behind the cooker. On completion of the work I rolled the cooker back into its position. All well and good. However within 5 minutes the gas alarm sounded off with a high pitched sound. The alarm had reached 3 on its digital read out. I immediately rolled the cooker out to investigate and discovered that there was a small leak in the hose. The gas was turned off and the alarm subsided and returned to 0 on the digital read out. It goes without saying that had we not installed the alarm the gas leak could have been catastrophic. My recommendation is that every house with a gas installation should have a gas alarm.Update following answer to question. 21.10.19From my experience this gas alarm is very sensitive. I have experienced the alarm showing No 4 and the beeper going off. This occurred immediately after spraying the kitchen with a good dose of fly spray. Obviously I thought it was a gas leak and turned off the LPG cylinders which feed the gas hob. Having opened doors to ventilate the room eventually the alarm subsided. Having not had an occurrence previously I decided to experiment to see if it was the fly spray or a gas leak. I turned the gas back on and waited for a reaction. No alarm from the monitor! We have used the hob since with no alarm. However the alarm has recently shown 1 and this has been when incense stick have been used in the kitchen to get rid of cooking smells. Turning off the gas had no effect, but the monitor did return to zero some time later when the residual smell of the incense stick had dissipated. Resetting the machine had no effect. It has remained on zero now for quite some time!? Maybe others have had similar experience and it may be worth taking up with the supplier

No leaks - Alarm went on!
Had this Alarm for 3 years - Yesterday the alarm went off twice. After the second time I called in the emergency gas services who after a thorough investigation found no gas leaks. So now I have no gas alarm as this cannot be trusted not to go off while out and causing havoc!!

Excellent safety aid at a reasonable price - detected a gas leak as soon as we turned it on!!!
I'm actually not joking when I say that a house about 100 metres away from us was destroyed by a gas explosion. It even made the national news at the time. Perhaps understandable then, that most of the people around here got more than a bit anxious about such things. We invested in this detector to be on the safe side and, boy oh boy, are we glad we did.Switched it on and it went off. We thought it was faulty. Reset it, same thing. Called in a registered gas engineer who found we had a small leak in the pipe supplying our cooker.

Not very sensitive at all
So the device did work when I turned on the gas from the hob but it just isn't sensitive at all. This device doesn't move off zero until the smell of gas is really very strong so much so it pretty obvious. Don't expect this device to detect a small leak where you might think you smell gas. Also the instructions are written in poor English which doesn't give confidence in the quality of the unit. My son read the instructions then asked me not to use the unit as he was fearful of the build quality. I prefer not to take a risk with this product so after 10 minutes use it'll now sit in its box. Bit of a waste of money. Should have taken notice of the other low star reviews.
