Can you use these to reenforce the crotch of jeans before a hole appears?

Yes any where on your jeans. And it is a iron on patch.

If you use these on the inside of the jeans, doesn’t it end up with sticky stuff showing through the hole?

I used them on the inside of a pair of levis to mend a rip so not really a hole but no problem at all. Don’t leave the iron pressure on too long. 60 seconds only.

Yes, it will work, I used them for this too. You can either iron the patch over the hole from the outside (so all you see s a patch) or from the inside (so you see a hole with a patch behind it) (which is what I did)
