We love to go camping and we brought it just for the experience and it was very user friendly. It creates many sparks and it starts a fire in just 1 or 2 strikes.

On the expensive side, but very well made and worth it.

This is my favorite ferro rod! The size of the rod, handle and striker are just right for me. I have always been able to get sparks without any problem. I used this rod to build 3-5 fires a day for a week with no problems at all. I’m ordering more for gifts and for our women’s camp coming up this summer.

I have been using uberleben fitesteels for a long time.Some say they are pricey,bit ypu get alot of quality for your money.Not too crazy about the striker.If they made it a bit longer for better leverage it could produce better.I

This thing is great. It's sufficiently fat and long, so you can definitely throw some good sparks. My only issue, hence the 4 stars, is I don't LOVE the striker. It's not terrible, and maybe I just need to learn to use it better, but I find in a non-backpacking situation where weight really isn't an issue, using this with a big-ole bushcraft knife provides much better results. Also, the string could be longer, leading to me having had to disconnect the striker from the ferro rod. Otherwise though, it does the job and seems like it will last a good long while. Probably a little expensive, but in this case, I do think you get what you pay for.

It works well in cold wet environments. Good for camping or bug out bag.
