How often do you need to replace?

I use it at my camp which I only use 2-3 months in a year. I change them every year on my system that draws water from the lake. I just throw the old ones away when I shut down the water for the winter and put fresh ones in when I open up in the spring. How often you'd need to change them would totally depend on how much water you use and how "dirty" that water is.
