Nicely Featured, Affordable Printer/Scanner/Copier
This is a great deal for the price! I have owned several HP printers over the years, and this one did not disappoint me in its build quality, its ease of setup and its printing and scanning functions. I am using it principally with an Windows 11 PC, and so far it has performed extremely well. The driver installation and connection to WiFi were very quick and simple. Both the scan quality and print quality are very good, considering I paid only $60 for this machine. The automatic document feeder is really nice. I would love this machine so much more if it could print and scan duplex automatically, but, again, this cost me only $60, so I won't really complain about it. For what this machine can do, its price point delivers an amazing amount of value.

Sent back: Dynamic Security chip on printer ink
This printer might seem like a good deal at first, but it’s really just a ploy to lock you into buying expensive ink from HP. I bought this to replace my HP 4255e after its printhead failed, and even the replacement head didn’t work. This printer cost me about $50 less than that replacement head alone, so I thought I was getting a bargain. The setup was straightforward, and it connected to my network without any issues. However, I’m uneasy about how HP connects to the printer over the internet—who knows what data they’re collecting? One glaring flaw is the lack of automatic two-sided printing. Instead, you have to manually reload the paper to print on the other side, following on-screen prompts. It’s an annoying step back from the fully automated feature I had before. The switch to a single color cartridge is a step backward, too. It’s more convenient, but with separate cartridges, you could at least use up each color fully before replacing it. Now, you’re throwing money away when one color runs out. The so-called “free” 6-month trial of HP’s Instant Ink (Dynamic Security chip on printer ink ) program is just a sneaky way to milk more money out of you. It’s not really an ink subscription; it’s a deal where you pay for the number of pages you print each month, regardless of how much ink you actually use. Even if you print just one word on a page, it counts towards your limit. If you cancel the program, any ink they’ve already sent becomes useless, forcing you to buy their overpriced cartridges. I canceled it and switched to aftermarket ink, which works just as well for half the price. Print quality is also a letdown. It’s nowhere near the standard of my old 8610, though it’s adequate for basic home printing. Forget about using it for anything professional or for printing barcodes—scan codes often don’t work on the first try. I printed show tickets, and the usher had to scan them several times to get them to work. The same issue happens with UPC-style codes, though QR codes fare a little better. Bottom line: I would never buy this printer again. After this experience, I’m done with HP printers altogether.

Fast setup, great print quality, and easy to use
I’ve been really happy with this printer so far. The setup process was quick and simple, especially with the wireless connection and app instructions. It’s very user-friendly, even if you’re not super tech-savvy. The print quality is excellent for both documents and color prints — everything comes out clear, sharp, and vibrant. Print speed is good for everyday home use and doesn’t feel slow when printing multiple pages. I also like that it’s lightweight and compact, so it doesn’t take up too much space and is easy to move around if needed. I haven’t experienced any paper jams so far, which has made printing stress-free. Overall, it’s a reliable all-in-one printer for home, school, or small office use.

Jury’s still out
Came in unbroken, well packed. Fired it up. Used up the ink that came with it. Got a new HP cartridge. Hasn’t worked since. To be fair, I only fiddle with it as my patience allows. Called customer assistance, can’t understand Indian language accent, dialect. Gave up on that. Still fiddlin with it here and there. I’m sure I’ll hit the right combination of buttons sooner or later. Worked great when it was working.

Works as expected
It copies, it scans, it prints. It does everything as advertised. I've had it for 3 mos now & it gets very light use. I am pleased with my purchase. Much happier with this HP than an Epson I had before this. The Epson had a lot of trouble with ink jets clogging due to not being used daily. The HP seems more forgiving & doesn't seem to clog up the same way after sitting dormant a few weeks at a time.

DO NOT BUY - Worst Purchase of 2024 By Far
I wish I could return this godawful printer. I cannot wait until I purchase its replacement and can take this abomination to an abandoned field and beat it to bits with a bat. Yes, it is cheap, but it is worth far less than what I paid for it. This is my first time using an at-home printer in awhile, and it is hands down the worst printer I have ever used. I have to repeatedly contact HP because the printer refuses to connect to Wifi when it or the Wifi is rebooted. HP's Printer Portal is a JOKE and does nothing except confirm that the printer is offline. If the printer gets disconnected for any reason, you have to call HP to get it reconnected to Wifi since the Printer Portal does not provide options for connecting it. You also cannot stop the printer from performing a print job, even if you cancel said job from the queue, meaning you have to choose between wasting ink or unplugging the printer and contacting HP Customer Service to get it reconnected. The UX experience gets a 0 out of 5, and while the printer does work once it is properly set up (which is near impossible to do on your own if you do not have an technology background), it takes about 5-10 minutes just to get connected to HP Customer Service any time you have an issue (which, in theory, should be able to be addressed in their online portal, but which, in practice, is impossible to resolve without professional assistance). Add another 5 minutes while they confirm everything about you save whether you are an organ donor. HP Customer Service has also made me carry my printer to different locations in my house because of how hard it is to get it connected to the internet (connectivity is not an issue for any other electronic device I own). This printer now sits within six inches of my router, and still it cannot reconnect to Wifi if anything disrupts its connection. I got this printer so I could quickly print drafts of my writing and do handwritten revisions. I have pretty much given up on using it after only a month of it being set up given the many issues I've encountered in such a short time. HP is actively creating waste in the world by putting out such bad products, and I will not be purchasing any other HP product, printer or otherwise, ever again.

Reliable All-in-One Printer with Minor Drawbacks
I've been using the HP DeskJet 4255e for a few months now, and it's a solid performer for home use. Here's my take on it: Pros: Versatility: This printer does it all – print, scan, copy, and even fax. It's a great all-in-one solution for home offices or households with multiple users. Wireless Connectivity: Setting up the wireless connection was a breeze, and it stays reliably connected. I can print from my phone or computer without any hassle. Having that feature alone makes the cost worth it for me. Print Quality: The print quality is good for everyday tasks like printing documents, photos, and even some graphics. The colors are vibrant, and the text is sharp. My wife uses the prints for her CRICUT designs and they look amazing. Compact Design: It's compact and doesn't take up too much space, which is perfect for smaller home offices or apartments. HP Instant Ink: The included 3 months of HP Instant Ink is a nice touch. It saves me the hassle of running out of ink unexpectedly, and the subscription is affordable. Cons: Noise Level: The printer can be a bit noisy, especially during multi-page printing or scanning. It's not deafening, but it's noticeable. At the end of the day, this is a minor issue.... it's a printer. Cost of Ink: While the HP Instant Ink subscription is convenient, the cost of ink can add up if you print frequently. It's something to keep in mind if you're a heavy user. Also, be aware the free color ink included does not actually work if you don't sign up for the HP service. So be sure to buy color ink separately if you don't want to pay for a subscription. Speed: The print speed is decent, but it's not the fastest. For large print jobs, it might take a bit longer than some higher-end models. Overall, the HP DeskJet 4255e is a reliable and versatile all-in-one printer that's well-suited for home use. It offers good print quality and wireless connectivity but be mindful of the noise level and ink costs if you're a heavy user.

Perfect for Home Use & Seamless Upgrade!
I recently purchased the HP DeskJet 4255e Wireless All-in-One, and it has been the perfect addition to our home. If you are looking for a reliable printer, scanner, and copier that doesn't take up too much space and actually works when you need it to, this is a great choice. The Highlights: Super Easy Setup: I had it up and running in no time. The wireless connectivity is stable, and the HP app walks you through everything effortlessly. Seamless Transition: We previously had an older HP model, and I was worried about the "switch over" process. It was incredibly easy! Since we already had an HP account, the printer integrated perfectly. Instant Ink Success: We had absolutely no issues activating the 3 months of included ink. Because our account was already active from our old printer, the transition was smooth, and the ink arrived exactly as expected. It’s been a relief to have a machine that handles everyday documents and scanning so efficiently. It’s a straightforward, high-quality printer that is ideal for anyone who wants a "no-fuss" home office setup.

Do not buy HP Printers... Horrible experience and it's still ongoing....
Update Jan. 2026 - DO NOT BUY HP!! So many errors, never connects to Wifi, so many error reports need to be printed, if you need a help menu, you have to PRINT IT ... using up all your ink. ITS A HORRIBLE COMPANY. Look at any other kind.... so much pain with this printer. 1 Star at this point is being generous! Printer works good but you need an ACTIVE subscription to ink for it to work. You cannot buy a different brand name of ink. The machine stops working until you put HP+ ink into it, so while the machine is lower price, you'll pay for it in the long run. This will be my last HP Printer.
