NOW Foods Betaine HCl, 648mg, 120 Capsules, Newest Release

Having used other brands of Betaine HCL with good success for chronic digestive issues, I couldn't understand why this product made me feel so bad. Even at a tiny dose, I'd get a horrid burning sensation in my gut, diarrhea etc. I'd never had this issue with Betaine before, it had only helped. I assumed Betaine HCL no longer worked for me, until I decided to switch back and try my old brand. No issues, improved digestion again!This product uses a fungal source for pepsin, which seems to be a very sketchy choice and goes against almost any other equivalent product. Porcine/Bovine sources of Pepsin sit well in the human gut, Fungal pepsin does not for many people and carrys far more risks and side effects.I wouldn't reccomend this product to anyone. Use another manufacturer who use porcine/bovine pepsin. The irony being that the last people who should be using fungal pepsin are people with chronic gut issues, the only people who actually are going to use this product.Very dissapointed as have had other products from NOW which have been good, however will likely never purchase another product from them again.The product I was sent had an expiry date 2 months after delivery..Terrible product from NOW, have lost any faith in this brand.

Good level of HCI with betaine. Best around in my opinion. So long as NOW continues to make in America I’ll continue buying as I know with American standard the quality will be assured.

As described - received quickly and well packed - compared to other sources these are better value for money and stronger than previous brand I had, which is good as you only need to take 1 compared to 6 to match this strength - quite big but easy enough to swallow- would recommend

I felt I had low stomach acid so started taking these. In the end I was taking as many as 25 of these after a protein meal and I felt nothing. You would think with all that acid I would be dead or in agony on the floor. Been using them for about 6 months now and no difference in my health. Will change brand now I think

I have pernicious anaemia and therefore have low or no stomach acid. I take 2 with each meal and it helps enormously with digestion.

The capsules are a bit large for my liking, but the contents seems to do its job. It is a repeatable item.

Found that a better diet did the trick. Didn't feel any benefits from taking this. Maybe it works better for someone else.
