Great Value & Surprisingly Durable - 3 Years Later! After three years of seasonal use, here’s what you need to know. I originally bought this kite set for my 3-year-old because the octopus design looked fun and both kites had bright, playful colors. We’re now on our third spring using them at least once or twice a week whenever the weather cooperates, and they’ve held up incredibly well. Pros: Easy to set up and put away: Quick and simple, can be folded away quickly. Very durable: After 3 seasons, there are still no rips or tears. Excellent value: Two kites for under $13 is a great deal. Long string reels: Plenty of length to really let the kite soar high without running out of line. Fun design: The octopus is especially kid-friendly and easy to control, making it perfect for younger kids. Cons: The delta kite is a bit more challenging for kids, it doesn’t stay up as easily as the octopus. Like most kites, the strings can occasionally tangle in windy conditions, but it’s usually a quick fix. Overall: This has been a fantastic purchase for us. It’s affordable, durable, and genuinely fun for kids. I would definitely buy this again!

I've taken these out a few times with the kid now, and have some feedback. Overall, I'd say go ahead and buy this, it's a good value, but you know for $20 for 2 kites, you're not getting the best kites in the world. Assembly: Nothing to it for the octopus. The Delta isn't bad, but the spars are a tough fit (and they should be, just be aware). Weirdly, the spars that go down the wings don't go the full length, leaving about 1/3 of the wings just flapping. That's fine, it might add some stability, but it makes it a bit harder for it to catch the wind than it should be. Flying: The octopus flies in relatively light wind. Uncontrollable, but the long tail keeps it mostly upright, and re-launching it is very simple. The Delta doesn't want to stay up. It'll go up for a few seconds, but it's unstable. It needs more weight in the tail or a longer tail probably to keep it from rotating around and nose-diving. Still fun, but far more active in re-launching it. The handles for the strings are super basic plastic and they work, but are hard for little folks to hold on to without just releasing tons of string ... and the clips are in the wrong place to prevent the string from coming further out. I had the kids just ham-fist the string on the spool rather than rely on the clips. Durability: Both kites have now survived some pretty stiff winds, and being dragged at full speed through fields and weeds as kids try to launch them from the ground without picking them up. That's great. But the handles for the string are flexible and a bit brittle (the clips to keep the strings from moving broke pretty quickly). They'll

Such bright colors! My kids just loved getting these for Easter :) The triangle kite was super easy to assemble, just needed to put 3 stick pieces in place and attach the string. It takes some running to get the kite up in the air, but once you've gotten it up it sails nicely My first error was attaching the string to the side of where the put the stick pieces. Flip over kite and attach string on opposite side through the metal hole These kites are durable- way worth it compared to the cheap plastic $1.50- $8 kites in the grocery stores The material of these kites are like fabric like material of some sort yet look waterproof so if they get water the flying won't be affected. I'm impressed with the quality and like the fact you get 2 in this package for extra fun :) The octopus is just as cute, but my son was more interested in playing with the actual one that looks like a kite

The triangle style kite does not fly like it should, will get about 15 feet in the air and dove right or left into the ground breaking the sticks that give it support and also jetting them through the holes they are designed to sit in... Really poor design, However the squid.. the squid is all fabric and somehow flew far better than expected.. so much so that a gust of wind pulled the handle out of a 7 year olds hand and carried the squid out to sea.. and some believe it is still flying to this day. Truly it flew until it was just a small dot in the sky on the horizon..We comforted the children with the saying "if you love it set it free, if it comes back it was meant to be"

The octopus flies easy with only a slight breeze. He's been in the air about 2 hours now!

You absolutely can't beat the value of 2 kites for $20. I and my husband used each kite once in light-moderate wind. Octopus kite review: Pros: -By far our favorite of the two -Almost no assembly > just had to tie the string to the kite! -Went up and stayed up well in light wind where many others were losing the battle (see beach photo) -Absolutely adorable up there - you can't help but smile watching it Cons -There is absolutely no way it is going back into the carrier it came in. With all the tails, it will need a much bigger bag. Not a big deal, though. Rainbow Kite review: Pros -It was nice to have two different options -Assembly was pretty painless, though the instructions make it much more complicated than it should -Folded back up well (after dis-assembly) Cons -It did not fly as well as the octopus -The problem is that the frame does not go all the way to the end of the kite so that it is a full triangle. As a result, those bits on the end of each wing flap around in the wind and make it unstable. This seems like a strange oversight, but I am no aeronautics engineer... Summary: I am not sure we will ever use the rainbow one again, but it is still nice to have 2 in case you ever need them. You can't beat this value. Totally worth it for light-hearted fun. Just get them. :)

I'll admit the instructions to assemble the rainbow kite were a bit confusing. But once I got it figured out, we were quickly up and flying on a perfect kite-flying day. Lot of fun was had by all, until a kiddo let go of the kite and the handle got securely lodged in the tip of a 70 foot tree. That kite lived its best life for over 5 hours at 250 feet in high winds. The string didn't break. The fabric didn't rip. The poles didn't snap. It eventually came down and was in perfect condition. If that's not durable, I don't know what is. The string is extremely long... no issues there. And while I didn't personally fly the octopus kite, my son took it to a park and said it was easy to fly. Overall this is a great deal for 2 durable kites.

I did not expect much when placing the order so it was a nice surprise when the package arrived with 2 high quality kites. They were made using proper materials rather than the cheap stuff found at Kmart or BigW. They are also kids friendly. My 4 year old was able to get the Delta kite up in 10 minutes with very little help from me. The Octopus is a bit more complicated but also very easy to handle. Both requires light-mid strength wind. I found they did not handle strong wind very well but that is to be expected. Overall a very good buy. Highly recommended

Me encantaron ya que al ser de 2 tipos diferentes, cada cometa se adapta a las condiciones de viento, la cometa tradicional (forma de triangulo) se vuela sin ningún problema cuando el viento es de ligero a mediano, y la del pulpo es ideal para cuando el viento es fuerte, por lo que sin importar las condiciones del viento seguro podrás volar una o la otra, en nuestras últimas vacaciones en la playa, fueron una sensación, ampliamente recomendadas!

The squid is amazing and loves to fly. The rainbow kite has trouble in low and high wind but does well in medium wind. The squid has been on many camping trips and even a music festival where it got terribly tangled in seaweed but it lives on and still loves flying

Estoy feliz con mi compra y el producto, mi hija queria un papalote para su cumple y se me hico bien la oferta de dos juntos, para aprovechar y jugar con ella. Ayer los llevamos al campo y uvo mucho viento, probamos los dos y funcionan excelente y suigen enteros sin algun danio. Estan facil para armar, la calidad del papalote es buena y el hilo tambien aguanta, probablemnete despues mucho uso se tendra que cambiar el hilo pero el papalote en si es de buen material. Vuelan excelente y se levantan facil, son facil para doblar y transportar y muy ligeros.

The octopus one takes very little wind for it to fly. Great for beginners.
