VTech CD1113 Black Trimstyle Phone with Caller ID

We needed an extra landline phone with Caller I.D. on our lower level workroom. This phone is perfect. As with many of the Vtech phones, the LCD display is hard to read, but it's not a phone we need to access every day. Simple, easy to install, no bells and whistles, and just what we wanted.

As others have noted, if you hang this phone on the wall, it will fall off the hook frequently because the catch is too shallow. The buttons are tiny and close together. You cannot hear the beeps while pressing the buttons unless you hold the phone to your ear which makes it impossible to press them, so it is always a guess as to whether you dialed or not. The caller ID only works with batteries, which is fine, but since it needs batteries anyway it would be nice if the LCD and/or keypad were lighted for easier viewing; the LCD is hard to read at any of the contrast settings. The phone cord is hard-wired into the phone and relatively short, so you have to use a coupler if you want the phone anywhere but right beside a jack. The handset cord is also hard-wired into the phone, so if it goes bad you need to replace the phone.

I recently got rid of cable and no longer have caller ID on my television. While looking for a inexpensive phone I found this one. I like this phone a lot. It’s exactly what I need to make it easy to see who’s calling. There is no light though so hard to read if your in the dark and one downfall is that the cord that plugs into the wall is attached to the phone. So if it ever breaks it can’t be repaired. you would need to buy another phone. With that being said it’s a nice inexpensive phone that does the job for my needs.

In the weaning of myself off my cell phone, I got Magic Jack service (highly recommend, btw). This phone does exactly what I need. Call quality and volume are good, people can hear me fine, nice & lightweight phone that won't radiate my body.

The phone works OK, at a good price. Problems: 1) The cord gets super-tangled easily. This in turn causes 2) the base, which is very light in weight, to fly off the table when you pick up the receiver. I sort of cured this by binding the other cord (from the base to the wall jack) to the table w/ tape, but that's a pain, and limits mobility. 3) There's a high-pitch squeak upon hanging up and occasionally other times as well. I have another similar phone, same make, no problems. It's attached to the wall. Maybe that's a cure-all.

Easy to use & can be turned off in a bedroom.

The phone is great. The instructions left a lot to be desired. The print was so small, I needed a magnifying 🔎 to read it.

Piece of junk that I purchased in 2022! The keypad buttons constantly malfunction, i.e. you press a numbered key, hear the tone but then when you complete dialing 10 digits, the call does not connect. You look at the Caller ID and see one of the numbers you pressed is missing. And it is not just one particular digit, it keeps varying which number gets missed. And the ringer no longer works either.
