A Love Match
I loved these characters Charlotte & Lucas. They are flawed, real & interesting. I cared what happened between them. I had real anxiety over the twists in this plot. Grace out does herself with the witty banter. Do yourself a favor, pour yourself a cup of tea, find a comfy chair & enjoy this book.

Good Romance
I have read many of Grace Burrowes' historical romances, and love her writing. Her books are historically accurate, and contain fascinating, likable characters. This one is no exception, and I like that she is revisiting the Windham family, as I absolutely love them. The H/h in this book are both likable characters, and I wanted them to find their HEA. I loved how their friends/family once again came together to "help" their romance, and help Charlotte and Lucas deal with their problems. I liked Lucas and Charlotte, but I did wish they had communicated a little better. Many of their problems would never have occurred at all if they had just talked to each other.I'm actually sorry that this is the last book in this series -- I don't think I'll ever get enough of the Windham family, so I hope their stories continue. My rating system is below.1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

another gem!
Charlotte is the last of the four Windham sisters to marry. She's always been a bit prickly so even though she's had a lot of proposals due to her family connections, she's turned them all down until she meets Lucas Sherbourne. He's a commoner albeit wealthy and neighbor to the Duke who married her sister Elizabeth. It starts as a marriage of convenience; he wants a titled wife and she wants someone who'll grant her some independence. But there's always been an attraction also between the two ever since she bested him in an archery tournament in the previous book. This is a fitting end to a great series. As always, I love the glimpses of the other Windham family members and we get some of that here even if most of the book is set in Wales. Percy and Esther play their parts in setting the marriage in motion even if Charlotte has no suspicions. In some ways, it's hard to see Charlotte and Lucas as a match, and Ms. Burrowes takes the time to let the relationship grow as they come to know each other. Theirs is a quieter type of romance, a little more practical, and I appreciate that. I wouldn't like every romance to be all high passion and drama. It doesn't mean they're not deeply in love; they just display it differently. As always, I love the author's writing style. Her descriptions draw the reader in. You can smell the tang of peat on a fire, taste the smokiness of brandy in a glass, and bask in the glory of the Welsh countryside. The dialogue and banter are also always good. It's fun to read about such intelligent characters.I'm sorry to see this series end, but I'm looking forward to the new series, Rogues to Riches.

She did it again!
Grace Burrowes is the best of the best so far as the genre is concerned. I have read all of her novels and, although I've enjoyed them all, have a few favorites. This has been added to my "favorites" list. Charlotte and Lucas are, for all pracitical purposes, an unlikely match; but they are perfect for each other. Charlotte is smart, indominatable, and a math whiz. Because she's a Windham, every eligible idiot wants to marry her for her connections. Lucas is a commoner who has turned his hard work and business acumen into financial success. He listens to her and admires her. He also learns to love her. What more could a woman want. She finds herself equally enamored with him. It may not have started as a typical love match, but it grew into a very good one.If you haven't read a GB novel, you really owe it to yourself to do so. Not only can Grace say more in fewer words than most anyone else writing today--especially in this genre--but she writes with intelligence, warmth, and humor. Although this novel didn't include one, her novels frequently include dogs, horses, or cats that are interesting, appealing characters in their own right. I may have said it before, but that fact is, I would probably read Grace's grocery list and find it interesting and charming. I just wish every author would take writing lessons from Grace.

Another rogue redeemed
Lucas was the villain of the previous book.Charlotte was never going to marry. They both work through past history and current problems. I enjoyed following their journey. As always, Ms Burrowes gives us good dialogue, plot and characters.

Disappointing
Reading this book, last in the Windham series, I felt as if Grace Burrows just wanted to be shut of Charlotte and get the thing over and done with. The story lacked the depth and detail normally associated with the relationship between male and female protagonists in Burrows' stories. A good read but lacking the certain something which has always made reading this author's output such a joy.
