GM CLIMBING 18" / 24" 8mm (5/16in) Pre-Sewn Prusik Cord / Loop Specification Length:18 inches / 24 inches ( the length of loop when flat pull ) Diameter: 8mm / 5/16 inches Material: Polyester Strength: 20kN / 4500lb Assistance in ascending a rope Process capture in hauling/dragging/tensioning System Back-up for belying Tandem rappelling Self-rescue in emergency ... You could find it a super versatile gear in you rack whether you go for rock climbing, tree climbing, mountaineering, caving, or rescue / hauling system set-up, etc. Compared to mechanical grab, Prusik cord is much lighter and more compact, taking little space in your rack. It also does almost no damage to host rope and could work in both directions during application.

Tough & affordable loop, but further testing needed.
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Tested 2 after 6 months of use and they sheered at the stitching at 17.7kN & 17.4kN. These loops are rated at 20kN new. Both loops were bought at the same time. I'm going to buy a couple more and test them fresh out of the package and see what results I get and whether the 20kN rating stands up.Testing done with a Rock Exotica Enforcer and a ~98:1 manual haul system.

PLEASE READ!!!!
This is great for what I need it for but be warned. The breaking force of the whipping is 4kn. Not a typo- 4kn. That is 900lbs. The cord is rated for 4500lbs but a chain is only as strong as it’s weakest link. The whipping is all that makes this a loop and not not just 40” piece of rope. If you are planning on using this for anything more than 900lbs it won’t work.

Quality and value... what more could you ask for?
I have inspected these and compared them to NFPA certified prusiks/gear, and see absolutely no difference between the two except cost. As a member of a FD LARRO Team, they're BIG on Certifications... but for my personal gear (and to save a few bucks) these more than fit the bill and meet all of the relevant safety requirements. KUDOS to GM Climbing for making quality / value gear. I will be buying more from them in the future.

So far so good!
So far, this little loop of cord does the what it's title suggests. I have not used it enough to rate wear and tear. The rope seems to be made of a sturdy and durable climbing grade material. Using it on an 11mm climbing rope, I found that the shorter loop gives me a 3 wrap prusik with just enough lengh left to clip in. The longer loop gives me a 3 wrap prusik with about a foot left of cord to clip in. The rope is a bit stiff, but this might change after more use. You have to make sure to properly adjust the knot and pull it tight before attaching anything. I'm also unsure if the plasic covering near the end of the loop is supposed to be left on. Taking it off would make one continuous loop with two ends sewn together.

Good quality
Good quality. The shrink wrap over the sewn area is good protection, and that section can be slid back and forth to change the loop size.

Sorta meh but cheap and works
Really marks up the rope black but after probably 50+ uses its not showing any real signs of failure so that's good. Quality is reflected in price. I rap in confidence with it as a backup..

Must have
Well made and sturdy prusik loop. Make sure the rope you are attaching your prusik loop to is a larger diameter than your prusik so it will tension up properly on the rope when you need it to.

Great friction hitch!
Fairly new to climbing / Rappeling but bought this to use as part of a photo shoot and after learning how to tie a prusik knot this thing held up quite well during the shoot but did bind up once where we couldnt undo it but im sure that is the result of user error. Once we moved the knot below the figure 8 it worked flawlessly!
