Excellent Dehumidifier – Remote Pad is a Must-Have for Crawl Spaces
I installed the Moiswell Defender M70 in my crawl space and let it acclimate for three days before judging performance, so the readings would be accurate within spec. The unit is very quiet — so quiet that I couldn’t hear it running — and it quickly became clear that I would benefit from the optional remote control pad. My decision to get the remote was twofold: I couldn’t hear the unit run, and otherwise would have to crawl under the house just to check the settings. With the remote, I can monitor everything at a glance without accessing the crawl space. The remote comes with a generous cord length, which made installation easy and flexible. After a few days of operation, both the main unit and the remote were showing matching readings. Performance has been excellent. I first ran the unit at a 45% humidity setpoint, then later adjusted it to 54%. The M70 consistently held the space right around the setpoint — for example, at 54% it was reading 55% (about +1.8%), which is well within the manufacturer’s ±3% accuracy range. That gave me confidence that both the onboard controls and the remote are reliable. So far, I’ve been very pleased with the quality and fit/finish of the M70 itself, and the remote adds a lot of convenience. Customer service has also been excellent — I’ve contacted them by email and phone, and they’ve been easy to reach and very responsive. If you’re planning to install the M70 in a crawl space or other hard-to-access area, do yourself a favor and get the remote pad. It really makes day-to-day monitoring effortless.

This dehumidifier really works.
At first I wasn't impressed and was planning on returning it as I didn't think it was removing the moisture as advertised. The fault was mine, it was my lack of understanding of how it should be setup. It's not an AC unit so the dry air it produces needs to be vented into the area you want to remove moisture from. In my case it's my basement. I, not understanding this was venting the dry air coming out of the unit to the outside of my basement thinking the heated air should be vented outside like the portable AC units do. I couldn't get my basement below 60% humidity doing it this way and the unit was pulling about 9 gallons of water out of my basement in a 24 hour period which is a lot of water, I measured it in a 5 gallon bucket so the number is not a guess. After I figured out my mistake and removed the vent hose venting the dry air outside, my basement is now at 42% to 44% humidity keeping my whole house below 60% humidity. My house (3 stories) including the basement is about 2300 square feet. This unit really works well and it's quiet. I live next to a lake and have lots of trees on my property so humid air is expected. Something worth noting is that the temperature and humidity meter inside the unit measures the temperature and humidity of the air coming out of the unit not the room temperature/humidity. I use separate meters on each level of the house to monitor temperature/humidity. This unit is of higher quality than the units you purchase from Lowes or Home Depot and it has a better warranty. I recommend it as this fixed the problem with humidity in our home.

Impressed so far
Short story - I'm really happy with this dehumidifier so far. For reference, my basement is a little shy of 800 square feet, and it's gotten the humidity down from about 66% to 41%. When my old dehumidifier started to go downhill, I looked at a lot of options for replacement. First, I tried a residential dehumidifier that was supposed to cover 2500 square feet, but from the moment I plugged it in, it struggled to get my basement anything lower than 55% (and normally hovered around 65-66%). Back to the computer to do more research. The general feedback I noticed was that modern residential dehumidifiers are a bit untrustworthy. It seems like most of them are built to fail within a year or two, and even ones that were highly reviewed still had plenty of issues with mold and related recalls, which made me nervous. A few people suggested looking into commercial dehumidifiers, that you'd pay more but would get better quality. So far, I have to agree. When I plugged in this unit, my humidity was at 62% - and it dropped 5 percentage points in 5 minutes of operation, whereas the previous unit couldn't have even dropped it 1%. I have high hopes for this unit, and I hope it stands the test of time.

Customer service top notch
Purchased this 145 pint MP70 for my older 1800 sq ft basement that runs very high humidity and temperature usually in the 60s, sometimes lower. The unit came and I installed after the 24 hr wait time and was impressed with the carry straps, ease of operation and quietness. After a few days the humidity was down in the upper 40s but was hoping to get to the upper 30s but would not go lower with the temp in the lower 60s. I measured the water being pulled out and it was consistently less than 30 pints per day and rated for 70 pints with temps in the 60s so I was wondering why. I messaged customer support and received a quick response and we troubleshoot ed for a few days with a nice person by the name of Alison who was very polite, unassuming and great to work with. I just didn’t understand why more water wasn’t being pulled out of the air or at least max out at 70 pints if it couldn’t get to my desired RH. Alison sensed my dissatisfaction and offered a 100% money back without me asking and I was impressed with that even though I could have just returned it thru Amazon without problem. I decided to try a larger unit the MP 100 and stay with this company because of their customer support and we will see how this one works and send another review later

Is working well
The dehumidifier arrived in good condition and is keeping a large basement dry. My only concern is the unit seams to cycle on and off at short intervals.

This humidifier has changed our home in a few good ways. AC seems cooler and drier air
We have a crawl space under house and the humity levels were high and it had a musty order that we wanted to remove besides keeping it dry. After a month of super hot weather here in Tennessee we are very happy with the choice. The quailty was great the powder paint on surface was done very well. We can bearly hear it running and we have the water it collects run into a small pump designed for this job. The water gets pushed out the foundation wall via pipe. The are out side the house remain soaking wet. The extra advantages are the Central air seems to run cooler as now the venting in crawl space it not humid but 50% dry. Ac air feels cooler. The main floor rooms feel dryer as well. We have solid oak floors and is also one reason we added humidifier to keep floors at a constant humidiy level. We are happy the house feels better that musty smell is gone since adding this humidifier. So far so good!

Pretty impressed!
Our home has always had humidity issues. We have tried other dehumidifiers with limited success. The Moiswell Defender M70 removed several pints of water from the air within the first hour of using it and it’s pretty quiet and affordable for how well it works. The unit was larger than I expected but is perfect for our basement / crawl space area.
