Flee from Heresy: A Catholic Guide to Ancient and Modern Errors
G**K
An excellent companion to the Catechism of the Catholic Church second edition.
Bishop Schneider does an excellent job of cataloging and explaining the historical and modern doctrinal errors found inside the Church and the world; AND why they are errors, and how God instructed us to address them.Flee from Heresy is truly Gospel grounded, sound Catholic teachings. It is a good complement and companion to the Catechism of the Catholic Church second edition. CCC 2ed will give you the Church teachings; Flee from Heresy will show the where and how we commonly (and repeatedly) deviated from those teachings. Knowing where the distractions and pitfalls are, is very helpful if you desire to stay focused on the narrow way.

Modern Heresies are Old
Such a great book by Bishop Athanasius Schneider, who seems to have his finger on the pulse of what Catholics NEED to know --- and has been lacking up to now, in many of our educations -- and a great companion piece to his previous book, "CREDO". I teach adult ed in my parish and one area where our education is seriously lacking is our knowledge of the HISTORY of our own church. All the uproar about "modern" thinking threatening to overwhelm our Catholic culture .. in short .. the Church has "been there, done that" --- AND emerged victorious from THAT battle --- THAT time period. These issues we face are not "new", "modern" issues ... they are the same heresies previously confronted by the Church --- that just put on a new suit of clothes, and then step out presenting themselves as "modern" thinking. NOT.! This is a GREAT book to learn the previous history, understand the heretical errors, why they ARE errors, the time period they first appeared in ... and how they were defeated. We ARE called Church Militant because with God's grace we fight and do battle against evil on earth; this book will help you ARMOR UP!

Love this book
It explains all the heresies from A to Z! How and what we think is VERY important as the Irish say, “ We rot from the head down.” Bad thinking makes for bad actions!

A Must read…..
for serious Catholics. Written in a Q and A style similar to The Baltimore Catechism.Very easy to read. Very easy to understand. I’m able to pick up the book, open to any page and begin. If a reader isn’t Catholic they won’t feel “threatened” in a manner of speaking. Just history. The past is prologue.

Must-have reference book
I highly recommend this book to everyone, as it describes and refutes the most common heresies throughout the ages (especially the errors of modern times) with reference to magisterial documents. A must-have handbook for reference, but it's also interesting enough to be read in one sitting.Writing style is clear and informative--easily readable for laypeople. The first section describes heresies by century and in alphabetical order, and the second half is a Q&A catechism on errors, grouped by topic (very helpful!).Thank you Bishop Schneider for another excellent book.

Can Bishop Schneider write anything bad?
This book is similar in its reading to Credo - answer response format. More for study than ease of read. It is amazing the Catholic Faith was able to survive amidst so many who wanted to corrupt it with false doctrine. Truly a divine institution. I most appreciate his emphasis on the current errors in a very concise and pointed way. Many great works on the current crisis and all the philosophical/theological errors. But they are very long and in-depth. Bishop Schneider clearly had in mind lay Catholics that have to live in the world and would benefit from a concise and limited address of these errors. Can the Bishop write anything bad? I think not
