Damtuh Korean Barley Tea, Roasted Barley Tea Bags, Boricha Mugicha, Caffeine-Free, 50 Bags

A friend of mine, who happens to be a bit of a whiskey/bourbon fan, recently discovered she was pregnant. So, of course, that meant no partaking as she was accustomed to for a while. She wanted a non-alcoholic alternative just for the fun of still having her usual glass here and there, but also so she could still look like she was not avoiding alcohol in public while they decided how to announce to their friends. I set about trying to find something reasonable that would work. Most official non-alcoholic whiskey brands are absolutely garbage. Terrible fake flavoring that, not only doesn't taste like whiskey, actually taste terrible overall. After doing so extensive research into alternatives, I stumbled across barley tea. Now, of course, it still doesn't taste like whiskey, BUT it does have a rather pleasant taste (personally I get a slight woody taste, which is nice as it reminds one of whiskey, and a slight coffee taste) AND if brewed at a good strength, it does LOOK like a good whiskey. One could also easily make a reasonable virgin-old-fashioned with this as well, again, not exactly like the original, but honestly still pleasant to drink. There's no caffeine in it, so it's safe for pregnancy, and the fact that it is a pure barley tea means it's also pretty good for you in general. It's probably do a good job filling in for the original spirit for stage and independent film productions too. Here's the brewing method I used if you are interested in using it for the same purpose: 1 container of approx 1500ml water (will make roughly enough to fill two 750ml bottles) 8-10 tea bags (you may have to adjust to taste over time) leave sealed in fridge for 3-4 hours done you will need to store your bottles in the fridge after brewing as it can go bad at room temp

This is such an easy and convenient way to enjoy barley tea. It steeps quickly, and tastes good every time. I have this tea at least once every day, and have come to rely on it. It is a great deal and good quality. It is good hot or cold, and I like that in just a few minutes, I can have a nice cup of barley tea.

Love the taste of this barley tea. It warms and relaxes from the first sip. Love that its healthy and beneficial. Will definitely order again.

There is a slight salty smell when opening the box/packets, but the flavor tastes good to me and my friends and the smell doesn’t linger when brewed. Good hot or cold, but cold brewing didn’t seem to work - I had to steep and then cool with ice. I ordered the 50pack then the 100pack and quality is consistent.

This Korean barley tea is excellent. The roasted flavor is mild and nutty, very smooth, and not bitter at all. I love that it’s caffeine-free, so I can drink it any time of day, even at night. The tea bags are convenient, and one bag makes a good amount of tea. It tastes great both hot and cold, especially chilled. With 100 tea bags, it’s a great value and perfect for daily drinking.

The only change I have made to my lifestyle was beginning drinking 4 or 5 - 22oz mugs of bori-cha every day in place of just water. I know Gemini is AI and AI can't be trusted for everything, but Gemini told me to try it for my health condition, and my doctor was really impressed. I am a customer for life. In the cooler months I made mugs of it using an electric kettle, and steeped it for 25 minutes. However I absolutely love steeping it in purified, room temperature water for 95 minutes on the counter. The roasted, nut flavor is to die for and it's so clean tasting. It tastes like a pure field of roasted nutty barley. Don't need to add anything to it. In fact, I think it would be highly sinful to add anything to it. It's incredible.

We're on our second box of this. Love it, and it's naturally caffeine free! The nutty/toasty taste is reminiscent of Japanese Hojicha tea to me.

Excellent. I love the taste and I make a big bottle daily and keep it in the fridge. Cold is very nice.
