Review of 'Onesie' by Ferguson Hunter
Onesie, by Guy Wilgress HudsonWhen I got my copy of 'Onesie' I didn't know what to expect. I'm no poet aficionado, generally preferring 'military or adventure' stories or biographies, but I read this collection with great gusto. The collection of 'Onesie' is superbly random, with the only connection being the fabled onesie garment that occupied a Nation. The poems come to life with the telling, and even more so if you had met Guy and read them in his unique and telling way.I highly recommend anyone interested in literature to take a step away from their comfort zone and select some work that they, perhaps would not ordinarily choose. You may be, (as I was), pleasantly surprised. This collection has inspired me, as a writer to research poetry and dabble in the craft myself. Again, stepping away from my comfort zone.I look forward to reading more of Guy's work in the near future.'We only live onesie.'Review by:Ferguson Hunter, Author of ‘The Moke Train’

A true poet
Wonderful collection of poems that spark off in all directions yet are bound by the fascinating and endlessly adaptable concept of the onesie. Guy Wilgress Hudson is a natural poet and this collection should be read.

An experience of creative reading
The Afterword or Afterwards of Onesie tells us: “There is time for living and time of creation. Creative time is a position removed from living. To create is to enter a place devoid of place and time. It is a special and sacred place. Creative acts are extraordinary.”This describes how I felt when I read the book. I felt as a reader that I was in this creative time. The reading felt creative as well. Definitely felt like living in a different world.Guy Wilgress Hudson's writing feels immediate, maybe even urgent. Something needs to be asked, said, and read or heard. But there are no easy answers and this book really shakes up your thoughts and is enjoyably disorientating. My favourite section is Lifecycle of Onesie which contains 7 poems telling a story from a Genesis-like naked body to Onesie's demise in a puddle on a pavement. Onesie is an idea, the source of ideas, and at times a character.I think I made a mistake at first by thinking as a book of poetry that I'd dip in to the book. For me it worked best by reading through from cover to cover, and that's how I'd recommend people read it.
