A Bargain!
As near as I can tell, this is the exact same roaster as the other 'pan' types that cost double the price. It's basically just an electric frying pan with a builtin stir stick, but it's better than stirring manually. Just buy it! The resulting roast is probably not as even as a hot air roaster and you won't be able to do much experimentation with different roasting temps. I tried several times, but now I just charge the unit at the 240C setting and leave it there. It makes a REALLY nice city roast. I just experiment with different beans and bean combinations. The attached image is 300 grams of Guatemalan Huehuetanango. I use about 300 grams per roast and it takes about 12-14 minutes. I have not tried any larger batches, and wouldn't recommend it, because the stirrer may not adequately move the beans, despite the vendors claim of 1.1 pound capacity. Make sure you preheat to >200C before adding the beans. I track the temperature every 30 seconds on a spreadsheet. I recommend buying one of those digital Weber meat thermometers (available on Amazon) so you can check the temperature without removing the lid. It fits through one of the air holes perfectly (not all of them, but one of them). It doesn't seem to matter if the thermometer comes in contact with the beans or not. You're technically just checking the temperature of the air, so just aim for consistency, not accuracy of the bean temp. First crack is a little hard to distinguish due to some outliers that crack early due to the conduction heat from contact with the bottom of the pan. Make sure you clean the glass lid with something like Dawn Power Wash after every roast, so you can continue to see through it and monitor for Dry End, etc. Definitely worth the money, if you're just starting with roasting your own beans. I'll probably never go back. Even the brew from my favorite coffee house now tastes like s*** to me. :-)

Great Roaster and a must have for home roasters!!
As a coffee lover who likes to roast their own coffee, this was a perfect gift to myself. This is well built, has several settings and works well. I have used it about 10 times and wanted to get good use out of it before writing a review. Still works fine and once you get the hang of it (how to get the roast levels you want, what temp to use and how long, etc) , it works lovely. In fact I have a nice batch of both medium roast and dark roasts in my cabinet now thanks to this roaster.

My husband loves his new roaster
I bought this for my husband, for Christmas, as he loves it. We have freshly roasted coffee all the time.

Bad design. You will be disappointed.
This roaster was very unsatisfactory. There were no instructions at all about how to roast the beans or how to time them, only about cleaning the roaster. I roasted a half pound of beans. The rotating bar pushed the bottom beans around and around on the hot surface roasting them darker and darker while the ones on top hardly roasted at all. Normally for a medium roast, you stop the roasting a minute or two after first crack. But there wasn’t any definitive first crack. The beans on the bottom sporadically reached first crack, and then some in the middle cracked unevenly somewhat later, and I was hearing an occasional crack on the top layer after the bottom was overroasted. If the rotating bar had been sharply wedge-shaped, the bottom beans might have slid over the bar top, equalizing the cooking. As it was, the beans were very unevenly roasted, varying from very dark to very light. I dumped some on a plate for you to see the variation in color.

Works well.
You can control the temperature and time very well. It takes time to get to know the production process and your favourite coffee beans! The variety of coffee bean is also important. I have found that Bolivian coffee beans taste great and roast well. This is a cost effective way to roast coffee at home. Recommended!
