I was torn between this one and the expensive German bread slicer. I’m pleasantly surprised how well this slices bread, and it’s very sturdy. Especially great are the suction cups, they literally hold this slicer in place even on a wooden cutting board! I don’t usually write reviews, but this slicer was worth every penny since I bake a lot of sourdough and it’s really great at cutting that!

Blade wobbles causing consistent, uneven cuts. base has suction cups, which is good for sticking it down, but does nothing for lateral motion. It slides right across the table. You need to put something behind it to stop it but then the base is too short for example lIf you put it up against the wall, you’re knuckles hit the wall when you try to turn the cut wheel. Please please please buy something different.

I’ve tried several manual bread slicers in the past—the kind where you use a bread knife to cut through slots—but they were difficult to use and often slipped around. This slicer is a game changer! With its suction cups on the bottom, it stays securely in place, making slicing effortless. It produces perfectly even slices, and I love that I can adjust the thickness to my preference. I wish I had discovered this sooner! I highly recommend this slicer to anyone who loves fresh bread.

Overall I’m glad I got this slicer. It works well, sturdy and makes clean cut slices. That being said… it does require maintenance sometimes on a daily use basis, for instance if you are slicing blueberry sourdough bread, it’s going to get messy, very messy and after you’ve cut a few loaves, you’re going to have to unscrew the blade and wash it dry it and put it back on before you try to slice another type of bread. I don’t mind doing this because if you do keep it maintained, it does a great job so much better than even attempting to try to slice sourdough bread by hand. I also oil the little gear behind the wheel when I take it apart for cleaning with mineral oil or any type of food safe oil and it has been serving me well so I would recommend it. I only took one star off because it does require maintenance. Also, I recommend that you get the anti-cut glove that you can wear on your left hand just to be extra safe as you slowly push the bread in. Overall review I like it and I recommended it with the above explanation.

Not worth the cost. My husband had to fix it in order for me to even use it. The wood grain sticker was already popping up when I got it. Kept it hoping my husband can tweak it so it slices better.

I loooove making sourdough, but slicing artisan style with the extra crispy crust can be a nightmare and downright dangerous sometimes. This wonderful slicer is worth every penny I spent! Love it to pieces! Easy to clean, sticks perfectly to the counter with the suction cups, is attractive, and makes slicing bread an absolute breeze. With the adjustable size and easy to use knob, it's a sourdough lover's dream come true. Prior to buying I had attempted to slice my loaves with both an automatic serrated knife and a standard well-honed bread knife with zero luck. Not only did I nearly sever my finger several times when the knives slid off, but the slices were not even remotely consistent in depth. This beautiful unit provides perfectly sliced and uniform pieces. So glad I bought this, and I absolutely recommend this to anyone into the harder and more stout breads! You won't regret spending a few extra bucks, I promise.

I had to replace the first o e cause it was broken when I opened the box and went to use the second one and it broke in the same exact spot the other one was broken in. And of course it was past the return time

I actually LOVE the cutting ability of the blade. On the downside, the suction cups on the bottom are useless. I have tried on both granite and wood and it slides all over the place. I don't want to return it because it really does cut well, but I'm going to have to remove the suction cups and come up with a better way of securing it. I can't imagine any other cutter with suction cups secures any better than this does.
