Do not buy this!! It's appalling - lasted 2-3 seconds and broke immediately! Doubt it's genuine
I understand that the notches on the blade boss are designed to sheer off if you hit something hard (to stop the crankshaft or something more expensive from getting damaged upstream of the blade boss closer to the engine), but this product appalling. I wouldn't even call it brittle as it's outright faulty. The dimensions of the blade boss look similar to the original, but it weighs a little less and the mounting notches are nowhere near as sturdy as the original - I doubt they're genuine. I fitted it, mounted the blade, tightened the bolt and started the engine. Immediately I could hear a grinding noise and when I checked the boss was broken. Didn't even get to move the mower an inch before it broke! I found an alternative solution though. If your blade boss happens to suffer from sheered off notches, just drill out the blade boss where the blade would usually mount to the boss and fit some strong M8 nuts AND bolts to the blade and blade boss. It's tricky to do, but the blade won't move even a fraction of a mm afterwards. Downside is if you hit anything hard, your engine's going to halt out or the blade could get damaged, but the upside is you won't need to worry about the blade boss. Photos attached. Save yourself the money. This is the new blade boss after I drilled it out and attached some bolts and nuts to the blade. Rock solid now.

This boss was not suitable for my Mountfield mower as the two pins were spaced wider .

A good fix
Boy was I glad to find this item and it was cheap enough as well. I broke the original one when I hit concrete drive edging with my Mountfield mower. Its a ten minute fit and works a treat now. I recommend it.
