I began my herbal training with these authors. They are exceptional teachers, healers and humans. Having gone through a lot of herbal training and having studied with countless herbalists, one area that Katja and Ryn excel at is organization and simplicity. Which I can vouch is extremely rare in this field. This herbal medicine book is exceptionally easy to use and navigate. It is beginner friendly, but I will likely be grabbing for it as a solid first choice when I need an herbal reference because the info is laid out so conveniently. I own just shy of 40 herbal reference books at this time and one of the most frustrating parts is simply navigating the layout of each to be able to quickly get my hands on the information I need. And I pretty use the same one or two books because they are easy. Now a have an awesome new go-to book! Another nice aspect for folks building their own apothecaries is that this book offers a manageable number of accessible herbs that one could easily and affordably collect and access. But they offer an enormous amount of common ailments that can all be addressed with this reasonably small number of herbs. The real trick for most of us in the herb world is not knowing the absolute best herb for any specific ailment, it's knowing how to use what you actually have. Because if someone needs herbal support, they rarely have time to order and shop for medicine. They do a great job in this book of showing the wide versatility of each herb they list. And how to combine these herbs into powerful recipes. Lastly, I will just mention that the quality and finish of this book is really nice. I am stunned they can offer it at such an affordable price. It's really hard to find good herb books for less than $35-$50. Review: This book over-delivers! My favorite herbal book by far. - This book is...just so, so great. I'm not sure how to write a good enough review! 1. Love the look and feel... Quality, thicker than you might think, great photos, even better directions! My first thought when I first received the book: "Only $12 for THIS?! I better buy more of them while still at this price!" I would easily pay (and expect to pay) $25 for this book. 2. I'm an herbalist (in training) and this is my favorite herb/making medicine book by far. 3. The directions aren't canned, vague or annoying in calling for things you couldn't do and couldn't easily obtain... Very simple and makes me feel like a pro while making tinctures, herb-infused honeys, etc. 4. The layout is very simple. I enjoyed reading it all together as it flowed well. This book is exactly what it says-- How to make medicine. But it's also such a lovely herbalist manual, even for advanced herbalists. I will definitely be buying this book for my friends. 5. Lastly, the authors, a husband/wife team, run a college that offers online courses. This book really shows how well they teach... Fun, friendly, personable, available, realistic. Wish I'd heard about this book (and the college) years ago! Both the courses and this book are life-changers. Can't wait for more books from these authors!

Great for beginner!
I'm a nurse but, as you can probably imagine, I wasn't taught about any of these remedies in school. That's unfortunate. I started with buying tea blends, especially Tulsi. I noticed great results and read this book on Kindle Unlimited before deciding to purchase it. It is so thorough, yet concise. It's not overwhelming. I feel the authors chose a great selection of herbs that really cover the spectrum of most of the conditions and/or symptoms that you'd probably encounter. I picked out about 10 to start with and so far so good. They reviewed 35 herbs total which is just enough, in my opinion, for the novice. Then, in the back of the book are recipes and combos to try for teas, and tonics, etc. My only negative is the paperback. I received 2 from Amazon in less than new condition in my opinion. I prefer a hardcover for books like this that I'll be using on a daily basis. It's basically like a textbook and cookbook. It's probably going to get pretty warn out. Not a big deal, just mentioning for the authors. :)

GOOD BOOK!!
I enjoyed reading this book and ALL of the information it had to give! It definitely gave me more options to consider for my chronic headaches other than running to pharmaceutical medications instead! Definitely a good book to keep on the shelf for a quick reference and for beginners like myself!!

Teas and tinctures both are given
Such a great book for those wanting to get started in making herbal medicine for common ailments. I am going through some of Katja and Ryn's courses and this book is great for more detail about ailments that can plague you. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to figure out herbal remedies but not want to pay a arm and a leg for classes about herbalism. this gives a tea and tincture for each ailment

Detailed in some areas, limited in others
I really enjoyed reading through this book,it was one if the first I downloaded on herbal practice. It has beautiful pictures, part one was interesting and helpful with the use if herbs, detailed step by step guide on making teas, bath soaks etc. That said, part three is where for me it's limited. The 35 herbs recommended are not common or easy to source as seeds to grow. I found the list of use for the herbs all similar and not very wide, limited. I hoped this may have been the one to buy in paper back, but the limited part three held me back. That said, part one and two were helpful and beautiful to look at.

Buy this! Great for newcomers and experienced herbalists alike
Cannot recommend this book highly enough. The authors take such great care to explain all of the herbs properties, in addition to clearly setting out when certain herbs are called for and why. I love their podcast too. They have become my favourite herbalists :)
