NORTH EDGE ALPS Outdoor Digital Compass Watch for Men

Bought 11-14-2024 I bought this because of the cloth band. Metal bands and rubber bands cause rashes on my wrist so I figured I would try out one with cloth and velcro. I think I've had this around a year or so and I've had no issues. I work in the field so it will eventually have to be replaced due to damage but it seems like it will outlive my $10-20 timex or casio or whatever I had before this one. The face of it, for me, is the perfect size. I am not a fan of ridiculously large watches and I have small wrists so oversized watches make me look more like a child wearing daddy's watch than the late 30s I actually am. Is it tactical? I have no idea what would or wouldn't make it tactical. It tells the time and makes sure I know what day it is. I guess that is tactical information. I suppose the green band makes it tactical. I don't really pay too much attention to the pedometer but it's neat that it does that. I use the timer often when I'm making tea so I'm glad it has that. The compass seems to work alright if you are moving. I'm not sure how it determines the direction but standing still I can spin around and the reading never changes so I wouldn't rely too heavily on that but I have used it a few times for a general direction. The light works just fine as expected I can confirm that it is completely submersible in a pool but I haven't been diving with this watch so I'm not sure about their 50m claim. The screen is glass which is why I think it will outlast my cheaper past watches. My previous watches would get so scratched up as to be unreadable. So far this one doesn't have a scratch on the screen at all. So far, it's really durable. I don't know how long the battery will last because my past watches all had 10yr batteries but had to be replaced due to damage after around 5 years. This one might be the first one that actually has a battery replacement. Overall, this has been my favorite watch. I like the perfect fit the velcro gives. It does everything I want it to do. It isn’t overly complicated and doesn't require charging like a smart watch does. I like the layout on the screen as it has, maybe not a minimalist look, but, an uncluttered look. I do think it is worth it and for me it might be less expensive in the long run than buying a cheaper watch. So, if you are in need of a reliable watch, this one is fantastic. Edit 5-21-26 I'm finally wearing out the velcro on the wristband so I just ordered a replacement for $10. I can still say this has been my favorite watch. I actually use the pedometer more than I thought. I thought I would use the compass more but I've found that I never use it. If I'm in the backwoods and need a compass I generally will have one with me so having one on my watch is not helpful. I did add a watchband thermometer to my watch and I just saw that north edge has another model with a thermometer built into it. I might think about upgrading my watch at some point just for that but i doubt I will because I really like what I already have. I do like knowing how hot it is getting when I'm working in an attic. Also, despite getting beat up everyday, the screen still doesnt have a single scratch. The paint around the edges is getting worn off a bit though but that is to be expected with something that is worn everyday.

I got the watch. Saw some of the complainers before I got it and was hesitant, really hoping it wasn't as bad as some people made it seem.. I freaking love it. Yes its water proof. Just dont shower with it because its not for HOT WATER. Swimming is fine. Cold water is fine, normal temp water is fine. Not hot. Now thats cleared, the watch IS NOT complicated to set up. Its very easy. Literally go to anything you want to adjust and hold the light button for 3 seconds. Thats all. Its a good watch. Sturdy and easy to read. Great value for the money in my opinion, the size is a little big but I dont mind it. It stands out basically. The illumination is fine as well, its probably as good or better than casios of which I have 4. Time accuracy has been fine as well. Its really a good watch. Just get it like I did. Loving the pedometer as well, one of the biggest reasons I got it was for the pedometer.

Watchband was perfect. Fit was right, and felt good on the arm.

I got this for my son for christmas. It is supposed to be waterproof to 165 feet. We went to the beach a month later and after frolicking in the waves with the watch on, the watch became waterlogged. The watch was ruined. I assumed this was a fluke and had the watch replaced. One month later two of the side buttons stopped working. I'm sending it back yet again, the second one in two months. It's a shame because this is a cool watch, my son loves it. The strap is great, it looks great, it does a lot of great things, but it's apparently not well made. I haven't dealt with the company for replacements because it keeps getting busted in the return window for Amazon, but I'm not going to try again with this watch.

Nice watch, easy to set up. I wear my watch 24/7 and haven't had an issue in the shower or with it coming off. I personally like the green. The only issue I had is that it may be a little rough against the skin if you have sensitive skin. I recommend folding over the hooks so they don't scratch, before closing. The display is easy to read and the backlight is good for my needs. Probably one of the better choices for the value.

Honestly love the watch despite some issues. the case seems very sturdy and durable. The cost is super reasonable. Some reviews said the display was too dark but in normal lighting its fully readable and the light button is plenty bright. My issue is that the plastic end piece on one side of the strap came off after only a few days of wearing it. I don't have a very large wrist so I was surprised to put it on the other morning and realize it was missing one of the end pieces. The watch is also a bit thicker and more bulky than seems necessary. Other than that I don't have any issue with the watch. Tons of features, the step counter is very accurate, I love the compass feature even though i have no real need for it (LOL).

I have never written a review here on Amazon but I have to say this watch is awesome! It was super easy to set. I love that it has a compass and that it counts miles and steps! The band is so comfortable! I ordered the army green band and now I am going to order the black one! I love this watch more then my expensive watches!

I bought this watch after going round and round trying to find a watch that would hold up to the work I do. I tend to scratch and break watches and needed one that could hold up to the abuse. I had tried the smart watches and they were all crap. This does exactly what it should - tell time, be easily readable in the bright Texas sun, and not look like it has been ran through a rock tumbler after one day. And as a bonus, I don't need my phone for it to work! If you are looking for a excellent everyday watch, this one fits the bill nicely. I am tempted to buy another!

You don't get water resistant 20bar or bluetooth but for $45 it's still a good watch, light on the wrist and very easy to tell time and weekday. I like it.

Eine für diese Größe leichte Uhr mit schicker Optik. Gewöhnungsbedürftig ist jedoch die Bedienung, da die die Funktion der einzelnen Knöpfe etwas anders angeordnet ist, als man es von Uhren dieser Art gewohnt ist. Für die Einstellung habe ich daher diesmal auch die beiliegende Anleitung benötigt. Diese ist in englisch und chinesisch verfasst, durch die Bebilderung aber erklärend. Das Ablesen der digitalen Zeit ist etwas mühsam, da diese Anzeige recht klein gehalten ist. Da muss man öfter mit der Beleuchtung nachhelfen. Da der Deckel unten verschraubt ist, sollte der Wechsel der Batterie auch kein Problem sein. Mein bisher größtes Problem bei diesen Uhren war dass das Armband recht schnell eingerissen und dadurch nicht mehr benutzbar war. Da habe ich hier auch etwas Bedenken. Das Material wirkt recht flexibel und die Abstände zwischen den einzelnen Löchern sind sehr schmal, was einerseits gut für die genauere Einstellung ist, andererseits aber auch dazu neigen könnte schnell zu verschleißen. Warten wir es mal ab. Ob sie wasserdicht ist habe ich jetzt noch nicht geprüft. Geliefert wird sie in einem schicken stabilen Karton mit einem kleinen Kissen und Styroporschutz. Eignet sich daher auch zum Verschenken. Verarbeitet ist sie soweit sauber und gut, auch das Material macht einen positiven Eindruck. Für 36 Euro kann ich diese Uhr ruhigen Gewissens empfehlen.
