Have bought one for our horsefield tortoise and i cant get the temperature above 30 . We have an 80watt bulb. Should i get a bigger bulb ?

That seems very strange because I have a large vivarium with a 100 watt bulb and my tanks gets to 80 on a warm day but it also depends on the type of bulb,the one I buy costs £30 which seems expensive but they last at least over 12 months or even longer,not sure why you are only getting 30 out of your bulb.

I have mine over a rabbit hutch for my baby tortoise and they’re doing great so should be ok. The lamp does get hot and so make sure it’s secure also you might want to put it on a timer
