Beware the description of this product
Compared with 2001this is a poor second. But I like it and that's OK. However, beware this listing. I have ended up with a French copy. Although I have not yet opened it, I find that all the text on the box is French. It's looking like I can view and hear the film in English but that's not the point.None of the reviews that I have read suggest this is a French edition. The picture of the front of the box in the listing is so tiny I can't read it. Te picture of the rest of the box do show that the text might not be English, but I thought I knew what I was buying (it's not the first time I've bought this) so why check everything out?Amazon - you need to be clearer.

Look past the dodgy effects
Watched 2001 and 2010 back to back and 2001 stands up much better. In the dawning age of digital effects the ones here look dated whereas 2001 looks cutting edge. But look beyond the dodgy effects and there is a worthy sequel here. Unfortunately politicised, to add in an unnecessary cold war element which reflected the time in which it was made, it still manages to continue the story which left so many questions. It answers a few and asks so many more.

I think it's an easier film towatch than the original but more pedestrian and less thought ...
The film is the film. It's not a cerebral as 2001 but it does tie up a lot of lose ends that are left hanging by the first film. In many ways this film is less futuristic and doesn't seem as adventurous as the original. I think it's an easier film to watch than the original but more pedestrian and less thought provoking. The transfer to blu-ray is okay but extras are minimal and it's hardly the greatest deal there is.

Watch both films in order and pay attention.
This movie was the sequel to 2001 A Space Odyssey which was brilliant but left a lot of unanswered questions. 2010 movie is not a Kubric but it is well made with its own story and continues where 2001 left off. Has recognisable film stars and stands tall within the science fiction genreThe film views well on a decent tv, I don’t think it’s available on blue ray

A continuation of the previous 2001 vid and book
If you have read or watched 2001, then this is a fair continuation. As a stand alone, it's pretty slow and weak.Obviously it is quite dated, now, which doesn't help things along.Lots of 'names' appear in it.

A satisfying sequel to the perplexing 2001 epic.
Arguably a worthy development of the 2001 Space Odysseus epic. There are flaws, but then, there always are. However, it is a satisfying, feel-good sort of film, with very pleasing photographic sequences, allowed with the usual high tech c.g.u. additions. One of its achievements, ha been to loosely interpret the enigmatic and thought provoking ending of the 2001 film.

Very expensive, cheap material and printed in another language
The entire DVD case is in French. Nowhere does it mention on Amazon that I was buying a French printed product. The case is cheap plastic and flimsy. I would expect to pay 99p for this type of quality on a dodgy market stall. I've paid £9.50 for this item. Not happy at all!!!
