Five Stars
Worked great for what I needed it to do. I will use these again to prove low levels of Radon (4 cPi/L or below) to people that believe: 1. that high Radon readings, above 4, give you lung cancer... it does not, and 2. people who think that these canisters actually measure Radon... they do not. If you want to actually measure Radon, hire a specialist with expensive equipment and pay $1,000 -$3,000 per test. These charcoal canisters are easy to use and the results come back quickly. The key is to handle the canister carefully when you open it and set it in a place where there are not a lot of people passing by or a lot of air movement. After 2-3 days, seal it back up with the tape and mail it back.

Great service
To date I have been encountering more Radon readings from investment properties then I care to talk about. With that said I never tested my own home. I do have an inspector that can preform this service for me however I read, researched and learned about AccuStar so I wanted to give it a try. I have to say I was very pleased and what a simple easy to use product. I followed the guidelines, filled out the appropriate paper work, left container our for the allotted time and sent in with the box and postage paid stamp that is provided by the company. Their customer service and the speed that the company got back to me with the reading was amazing. I received an mail within a few days, printed off the Pdf with the reading, filed away and happy to say I was please with the snap shot three day reading. I now purchased the longer test to be safe and will use AccuStar. I highly recommended AccuStar and would suggest to a friend. Service was fantastic! Reading was accurate! The price on Amazon was the best!Important: Read the paper work and guide lines to preform the test to receive the best reading. Also recommended do the follow up test which takes 3 to 4 months. Of course if you receive a high reading 4.0 or higher contact a professional for further testing and possible mitigation.

Hurry! Get your used and damaged test kit at Full Price while they last!
If small metal canisters are your thing, AccuStar has finally made a product you can stare at for hours! I felt like a toddler with a jar of rice as I shook the can repeatedly and marveled at the soothing sound of the pellets bouncing around inside. I feel sure there's something inside the canister, but part of the joy of this AccuStar product is the opportunity to use your imagination and wonder endlessly. Why? Because no amount of force, prayer, or legislation will remove the lid from the cylinder. Now I know you're thinking, "But don't I have to remove the lid to perform the radon test?" Well sure, but look on the bright side: you get a great upper body workout and a chance to exercise your fine motor skills for nearly half-an-hour, and it only cost $30! That's cheaper than a gym membership. Plus you'll spontaneously expand your vocabulary while trying to remove the lid as you curse Jesus, Budha, their mothers, and the donkeys they rode in on.Now, you might not have a lot of upper body strength, but don't worry - another customer has already loosened it up for you (or rather, tried to). Apparently, your $30 (New) canister comes with its own unique set of dents, scratches, and scars left behind by the customer who tried to remove the lid before - probably for the same low price of $30 (New). Mine was particularly unique - a dent from a flathead screwdriver at the seam, half-a-dozen small piercings from some type of ice pick or other sharp object, and the lingering echo of the previous customer cursing the heavens, his ancestry, and his progeny, as he was compelled to use brute force and possibly power tools only to fail at prying the lid loose. .In short, AccuStar sold someone a defective radon test kit, the customer tried and failed to open it, thereby damaging the case. It was returned. AccuStar, rather than disposing of the defective product, returned it to their stock, and sold it at full price to a different customer. In response, I have returned the product, driven 4 minutes down the street to the hardware store, turned all the AccuStar products on the shelf with their backs facing out, and purchased two of their competitors test kits. I don't even need the second one, I just bought it to help their competitor along. If you need a replacement hockey puck, or a good forearm workout, this is the radon test kit for you. I'm also getting a bit of fine motor exercise by flexing my middle finger every time I see or hear the name AccuStar.

) Turnaround time is very quick and it depends on mailing time to the lab (MA for Accustat vs TX for First Aert) I used AccuStar test before for my parent's basement and was very happy with the service
I bought this test as well as First Alert RD1 Radon Gas Test Kit on the same day. I mailed both tests on the same day 7/27. I received result from AccuStar ( accustarlabs.com ) on 8/1 via e-mail and my test from First Alert is processing and should be completed on 8/3 per their web site (doctorhomeair.com.) Turnaround time is very quick and it depends on mailing time to the lab (MA for Accustat vs TX for First Aert)I used AccuStar test before for my parent's basement and was very happy with the service. Turnaround time is very quick. I like the product: I like the container and the way it is sealed. As far as actual test you need to make sure that testing area is not ventilated as tin will be exposed there during waiting period for the test which is 48-96 hours. It's a very simple and easy process.EPA Recommended Action: Level = 4.0 pCi/LWorld Health Organization (WHO) Recommended Action: Level = 2.7 pCi/L

IMO this is worth the extra cost over other similar kits
Bought one of these and one First Alert RD1 Radon test since they are relatively cheap (compared to the cost of unneeded mitigation) and something that can get screwed up easily (aka) redundancy. The price difference appears significant but when you consider the AccuStar includes return shipping cost (the First Allert cost $10 to ship through UPS as they recommend) and the AccuStar is a nice tin test kit and the First Alert is the cheapest plastic / paper piece the reason for the price difference is obvious. I mailed off both kits Tuesday afternoon and got the AccuStar results via email Friday. Still waiting on the First Alert. With these two you are getting what you pay for.
