Good sketch pads. My sone goes through a lot of sketch paper. He likes these pads and they are a good value.

At an under ten price point, this is a pretty good sketchbook. It's comparable to store brand products at various chain arts and craft stores. The wire coil and chipboard cover on the back are sturdy enough to endure knocking around in a backpack and it offers enough support that you can draw without a table. It has a generous page count and the paper handled the dry media I tried with it. It has a bit of tooth which offers nice texture for things like graphite and color pencil. It's a touch rough for extended use with fine felt tipped pens, but some brief line work would probably be okay. I think the paper weight is too thin for even a light water wash, but I admit I didn't try it. This is a great choice for casual or preliminary sketching, or a gift for a young or beginner artist.

A solid sketchpad that has thick enough paper it would work for watercolor, as well. Very nicely assembled and sturdy.

Great sizing, good texture, non bleeding paper great to use with any media

As a full-sized toss-into-a-back-pack sketch pad this is an excellent choice if you are working with dry media. The spiral top keeps it from catching or shifting when traveling. The pages lay flat and the paper is a nice, uniform color that reminds me a bit of velum. With dry media it works wonderfully and with some fine tip, fast drying markers it is very good. The performance drops off a bit when you move into Sharpie brands thin and thick. Had some bleeding with those and had to toss a couple piece mid-drawing due to that.If pencils, charcoal, chalk, pastels and other dry media are your preference than this is a great choice for working on bigger sketches.

I really like the color and texture of this paper-it has a very slight texture to it, and a slightly off white tint to it rather than a pure white sheet, which I prefer. It's a nice thickness for a sketch pad paper, maybe slightly thicker than traditional printer paper. And you get such a great amount included!! I was going to let my kids use it, but I'll probably end up keeping it for myself since it's such nice quality (Don't worry, I'll share with them!). It's a great gift idea paired with other drawing supplies too!

the 8.1x11 advertised size applies to the entire thing. not the size of the pages. All pages are perforated 5/8" from the top near the rings, making the actual usable space around 8x10.25. The size of the page shouldn't include the part you can't use.
