Grizzl-E CLASSIC Level 2 EV Charger up to 40 Amp

I couldn’t be more pleased with my purchase of the Grizzl-E Classic Level 2 EV Charger! The "dumb" charger -- meaning not the 'smart' charger is what I came to purchase after reading about the internet connectivity issues. This charger is simple, works great, looks great and I am very happy with this item. Easy Installation: The NEMA 14-50 plug makes setup a breeze – just plug it in, and you’re ready to go. No need for complicated wiring or professional installation unless you’re mounting it permanently. [yes, there should be a cover on the exterior NEMA outlet! - but that is between me and my electrician... separate from the grizzl-e itself,] Robust Build Quality: The metal case enclosure feels solid and built to last. It’s UL Certified, which gave me peace of mind about safety, and it performs beautifully outdoors, even in heavy rain. Super Fast Charging: With 40A output, my hybrid Jeep wrangler charges from zero to full in just over a couple hours. Weather-Resistant Design: This charger lives outside, and the fact that it’s designed to handle various weather conditions has proven true. I haven’t experienced any hiccups, even in wet conditions – this thing is a tank! It’s only been a week, but so far, so good. I had an electrician install a 220V outlet for the unit. The charger feels industrial-grade: solid metal enclosure, clean design, no flex or rattle. The included cable is long enough to reach our vehicle easily, which sounds minor but matters day to day. The only hiccup I’ve encountered was unplugging mid-charge. Doing so confused the car’s charging negotiation (“handshake”) and required a quick vehicle restart before charging could resume. Not a deal-breaker, just something to be aware of. Performance has been excellent. Our Volvo XC90 now charges in about four hours, compared to roughly twelve hours on our prior setup. For roughly half the price of many competing chargers, the Grizzl-E Classic delivers exactly what I wanted: simple, fast, and solid. Excellent bang for the buck.

I’m really impressed with the Grizzl-E Classic so far. The matte black metal enclosure looks sharp and durable, and installation was incredibly easy — just plug into the NEMA 14-50 outlet and go. Performance-wise, it’s already outshining the original Audi charger that came with the vehicle. Charging is noticeably faster, and the LED status light is simple and intuitive. One of the standout features for me was the long cable — much more convenient than expected — and the holster dock is cleverly designed. You can insert the charging end at an angle, and it clicks securely into place without fuss. Another major plus: it doesn’t overheat in the hot Colorado sun like my old charger used to. Even on scorching days, it runs cool and reliable. All in all, a great value for a tough, dependable Level 2 charger. Highly recommend if you're looking for a no-nonsense, high-performing unit that just works.

Love this charger. No frills, super heavy duty materials used for the charger connector and cable. The box itself is solid steel and doesn’t get hot even under max 40A load. It functions exactly like it’s supposed to; my Mustang Mach E Rally delivers about 8.8kW continuously, which is spot on with 220V x 40A. It’s significantly cheaper than a lot of other name brands and is basically impervious to the headaches the smart chargers have with constant disconnects and having to reboot to resume charging; just plug in and it goes. Any modern EV has the ability to set charge rates, times, current, charge percentage, etc within the car or connected app on their phone, so “smart” chargers are just redundant. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. The plastic included hanger is ingenious; you can haphazardly push in the charger cable from any angle and it just snaps in place and stays there; no need to line it up just right at the perfect angle. If it ever dies, I’m buying another one.

I took delivery of this product on 02/11/2022 and have nothing but positives and no cons to speak of. If you are in need of an EV charger, I highly recommend you consider a Grizzl-E unit for your purchase. I believe you will be totally impressed with it as I am. I had it installed in my garage with a 50 amp circuit virtually immediately and it has performed flawlessly since; which means, all the time, every time. It is my first venture into EV's and is for my 2022 Jaguar EV HSE iPace. Based on the quality of my vehicle I wanted a charger of the same quality for it; this is why I went with Grizzl-E. Without a lot of help from my dealership and knowing the price of $1100 for an EV charger from Jaguar, I embarked on my venture of finding a unit satisfactory and, hopefully, at a lesser price. While googling many different chargers, what I found was that they were higher priced and largely had screens that told me a lot of digital information that I had no interest in or was readily available from the software already in my car. That to me that just looked like something additional on the charger that could fail. When I saw the information on the Grizzl-e and realized how lower priced it is and how sturdily constructed but simple and that it is designed and made in Canada but also so versatile, I was sold. It also carries a UL and CUl inspection certificate. I will soon be returning to Pittsburgh for the summer and will take the unit with me for installation there. It is versatile in that is easily removed from the wall bracket and with the purchase an additional wall bracket and a plug holder from Grizzl-E, it will be installed there on my garage wall. Its versatility also applies to the fact that it through the use of dip switches it can readily be used at different amperage. BTW, what is really the cherry on top of the whipped cream is Grizzl-E's level of customer service. When I contacted them regarding the wall bracket and plug holder and other operational questions they were top notch and right on top of answering me. They have a toll free 800 number for contacting them.

Pretty straight forward. arrives preset on 40A, which is perfect for a 50 amp breaker. It managed to deliver the correct power to my EV for hours. Construction feels extremely solid. My only comment is not product related. If you install that in a garage, make sure you have a concrete drill... not so easy. The length to the cable is great.

Nice (and SIMPLE) power box. Does the job. Easy to install. (Heck of a lot easier to install than the separately purchased power box). Cable hook a plus (assuming it doesn’t break at some point). Only thing I might recommend to maker would be to have small table of the LED status colors on the exterior of the box for easy reference—a minor quibble.

Great EV charger. Skip all the bells and whistles. This charger is the real deal. I use my grizzle on a 14-50 nema plug. Simple set up and fast charging. I’m getting 35 miles of range with my Hyundai Ioniq 5. Well made , practically bulletproof. I’ve tried 3 different chargers including charge point and this is the best one.
