Really interesting and good rock collection
This set comes as 5 different boxes classified by type of rock. There are 12 examples of different rocks in each box. All resources are of a reasonable size to give you an idea of what the rock feels and looks like. The examples are also ideal for putting under a microscope if you want to look at them in more detail. Each box also comes with a booklet which gives you information on each example. This set is perfect for anyone interested in their environment and geology. We love looking at the rocks we find at the beach or when on walks and this set helps understand and compare what we find. It also perfect as educational tool for children so they can start to learn about the environment around them. Really great set for beginners.

Could have been great
I ignored a lot of the poor reviews on this product because I thought it would be great to home educate my children. Sadly the sets contain poor quality specimens and while I did not expect the rocks to exactly match the pictures I did not expect them to be so hard to identify, some rocks did not match colours and were tiny compared to images on front of box. Really disappointing product and it could have been so good had they picked better quality samples.

Good for children whom are interested in Stones
When you get these you will have to put them in the boxes in order, mine were all over the place. It is quite difficult to fathom out which stone goes where, because a lot of them are not the colour as shown in the boxes, probably because they are taken from different parts of the stones. The Green and yellow are easy but the quartz was difficult as it came with two pieces one which looked a bit like a tiny piece of glass and the other a brown with pink bits. There are sticky numbers in the boxes to stick on the stones, but they don't stay on them at all, I would put them on the tray but then you have to work out that you have the right stones in the correct places. It is a good way for children to learn about different stones, they are collectors pieces and I am careful to make them put back in their little boxes. All in all quite a good way of learning.

Barely adequate for the price. Left balanced on my gate by courier
Overall the samples are adequate but there are serious failings as the samples are so small. For example the conglomerate only contains one tiny pebble and the whole specimen is less than 1cm across. The fossil samples are generally poor with a few exceptions. The schist and gneiss samples are too small to really see textures. The samples are mainly too small to withstand hardness testing than a couple of times. The set is better than nothing but very disappointing

Educational tool
Very expensive set of rocks, would be ideal for home schooling/school setting/after school club, the box arrived it was very heavy! The stones we're all over the place, so we had fun trying to sort it out, definitely a good educational tool

Great.
A really, interesting set. Each set comes with a set of images to easily identify each rock or mineral. The comprehensive guide book explains the history behind each rock.
