Much better than the Baofeng mic.
Using a Baofeng uv5r handheld I suffered the same problems as many regarding audio quality. The built in microphone was too quiet and there is no way of adjusting the mic. gain so I got poor readability reports (Good signal strength but very weak / quiet audio. there is a fix for this which involves dismantling the radio and drilling the microphone hole out a bit more but I didn't want to do this as it seemed a lot of hassle and not a very "professional" repair. I also have the Baofeng hand speaker - microphone which plugs in with the 2 pin Kenwood style plug. This gives a better sound level but now I get reports saying there is reverberation, that it sounds "hollow" or that it sounds like I am inside a bell. Again there is a take it apart and fudge a fix to it but I wanted something better. So I bought this Retevis hand held speaker mic with the same Kenwood plug fitting, - it is a direct replacement for the Baofeng hand mic. Now it does cost twice as much, not that that makes it expensive as the Baofeng mic. is very cheap, it just makes it a more reasonable price. balanced against that the price may be twicew as high but the sound quality of it more than twice as good, giving a well modulated signal with good clear sound quality. I have not had a bad report since I started using it. On top of that the build quality, the styling which drops easily into your hand and the smooth well placed PTT button are all improved. i would fully recommend this microphone unit to anyone with a compatible Baofeng model that is having problems with sound quality from either the built in microphone or the official Baofeng hand microphone.

A solid and robust fist mike.
I needed a new means of using my hand held radio as my current set up of using a bone conduction headset and mic was not working out for me in the manner I expected (nothing wrong with it but after along period of time with it on, the strap from my goggles pressing in on the head band started to give me headaches). Opting to try a different path, I settled on this item, the Retevis Remote Speaker. the connection to the radio is simple enough and is a secure fit, the build quality of the mike is very good with no creaking or splaying of the cover. the transmit swich has a solid and satisfying 'click' when you press it and the sound output is very high (I have the volume a lot lower on this than I thought I would, which is a good thing!). All in all, I am very satisfied with this product and I am sure in the fullness of time and after a few more months of use I would be able to add an update to this review.

Distorted sound...buzziness.
It does what it does, but the sound from it is not great and is buzzy, it seems that the speaker is vibrating, yes you can hear the voices, but it is not great. Marks out of 10, I give it a 4. UPDATE: 19 August 2020. After I put this poor review into Amazon I got contacted by Retevis, they asked me a couple of questions on my problem and they concluded that I had a faulty item. They sent me a new one free of charge which arrived a day later via Amazon, and I have been told not to return the other one which is good as it is bothersome and time consuming to return an item. So as soon as it arrived, I tested the new item against the old, and the difference was very noticable, it was not buzzy anymore and the sound was vastly impoved, I was impressed at the difference. So thank you Retevis for the great customer service, if I had not put up the poor review, I would have had to put up with the buzzy noises, not knowing it was indeed faulty, and the fact they contacted me says volumes, I hope other companies start to do the same. I will keep my ear to this problem, just in case it happens again. Well done Retevis, 5 stars out of 5!

I expected a bit more for this kind of money to be honest. I expected a bit more for this kind of money to be honest. I expected more for 20 bucks. The quality is just ok. The microphone itself is pretty decent and the included clip is nice and sturdy. The casing feels good and sturdy. The speaker is just OK and sounds a bit shrill. That said, that's hard to fix in such a small enclosure. What annoys me most is when the speaker gets enabled there is a loud POP before you hear sound. I have not noticed this on my other handmike's before. Especially when repeaters get keyed often, it's super annoying.

Prodotto affidabile e ben costruito.
