So far, so good!
So I've had this since mid January. And so far, so good. I wanted something to provide extra cardio as well as eye hand coordination work. I started looking into these because they were something I could afford. Didn't want a hanging heavy bag or even a giant standing heavy bag. I researched these and this one had high ratings. Also found out a friend of mine had one and he really liked it. I read the reviews on Amazon and found most to be positive with some receiving defective parts. When I received it all parts were 100%. The assembly process was easy and took about 10 minutes. All screws and tools included. I started using it with the gloves they include for free and in truth, they are crap. I purchased a more quality 14 oz. pair that are much, much better. I did purchase hand wraps to use because after a while of hitting, my knuckles and lower part of fingers were hurting. Much better with hand wraps. I use it twice a week for two 15 minute sessions. I continuously keep it moving for each 15 minute session. So all parts are moving and being stressed. So far, it's holding up great. I'm no boxer to say the least. I'm 54 years old, about 170+ and a 2nd degree black belt in TKD. So I do try and give the bag and myself a workout. The product is holding up well. I filled it with water instead of sand. No leaks and holds plenty of it. Keeps the unit grounded. Now it does move across the floor some as I use it. Not a lot, but a little. I use it on a screened in porch that has a thin throw rug on it. The movement of the item does not effect what I do at all. And I stretch and hit it so at times it reaches the ground. Every week I do recheck and tighten all screws. The adjuster for the height of the pole does sometimes loosen up during those 15 minutes. But a quick tighten and I'm good. So overall, I'm very satisfied and it's holding up great. I always update my reviews if over time things change with a product. Good or bad. As of today, 2/4/21, 5 stars.

Turn your living room into a BOXING GYM!
This is a game changer truly completes my home gym. I got the premium version as I am a big man 6’5” 230lbs athletic build. So I deliver heat with my punches. The glioves are high quality they barely fit my large hands but they absorb the impact beautifully. The spring was squeeling at first but a couple of squirts of oil and gone. The action of the spring loaded punching ball is tight fast enough for doubling up with jabs all you have to is approach with tighter proximity.I’ve downloaded a boxing app to regimen my sessions and after an overall 30 min workout I was soaked in sweat. You don’t need a large room to accommodate this great fitness equipment just a diameter of 10’ and your good. I give this product an overall rating of 4.5 stars the .5 discount is for one little omission in design that has an easy fix. You will see this mentioned in other reviews so hopefully Protocol eventually takes heed. So the upper pole that the punching bag sits on is secured to the lower pole with a clamp screw that screws down on to the surface of the upper pole after enough vibrations from blows to the bag the screw will loosen and the upper pole will dislodge. To solve this problem drill a hole that the clamp screw can actually screw into opposed to onto and that will lock her down.Great product that delivers a legit advanced HIT workout!

Good enough for most people
Set this up for the kids to exercise during quarantine. I used it plenty as well. Its fun and good exercise. I'm no stranger to boxing, have a heavy bag, speed bag, etc and still mess around on this from time to time. The gloves the more expensive version came with are surprisingly decent. The base doesn't leak. Assembly was a bit tricky and its a bit flawed in design, but nothing major. It becomes unscrewed easily, so you have to check to make sure its tight before use. Its never been a problem, but I'd imagine it could be if we neglected it. Its good enough on a session by session basis. There's also a screw on the bottom I had trouble with during assembly. I tightened it pretty good, but wouldn't be surprised if it became unscrewed someday. Still, nothing is in danger of catastrophic failure. Just minor stuff. Its pretty durable otherwise. And overall the product is pretty decent and fun. Great to work on your timing, head and feet movement. Good for cardio. Its what you make of it. A good purchase. I'd recommend it.

Not the best.
I bought this as a gift for my son. The assembly was terrible. It didn't go together correctly. The holes didn't line up for some of the bolts to go in. He wanted to play with it so bad we kept it and the base ended up coming apart. The gloves are of decent quality, they held up better than the punching bag itself. Wouldn't buy again. Packaged well and arrived on time.

Super fun!!
This was very easy to put together. I filled mine up with water as I was too excited to try it out and didn’t want to go buy sand bags. I feel the water alone suits it perfectly because this isn’t meant to be hit hard anyway. One flaw of the design is the top portion of the pole can come loose. Mine did and it flew across the garage. The flaw is the hand knob/tightener doesn’t have a hole for it to be secured. The end of the screw/bolt just pushes against the smoothness of the pole. So I simple drilled a hole and now it’s not going anywhere. The gloves that come with it is also on the harder side (as in not much cushioning and comfort). No biggie as I had other boxing and training gloves lying around. I feel a 12oz glove works amazing with this.Lastly, this is not a heavy bag. Don’t treat it like one and I feel it will last for many years. GREAT workout and so much fun and can really get your blood pumping. Highly recommend it!

Pretty good if you are 5’5.
Easy to put together. I wish the middle lock on the bar was clamped or locked. Otherwise, pretty good. I’m 5’5, so good for my height, but not to sure how well it will work with a taller person. You can only put around my height as any taller, middle lock might not lock well and top piece may go flying off.

Bag broke after a month of usage by a 13 years old kid
Very poor quality bag and you can't get replacement, you have to throw away the entire kit

Beginner vs Heavy Duty Comparison
I loved my old red (beginners) Protocol punching set, so I decided to upgrade to the heavy duty one, when my beginners set wore out after a year of heavy use. As a tiny female, I wouldn’t recommend the beginners set to someone over 5 foot 5, but I would recommend the heavy duty version.I do not use the gloves that come with the set, I use my own pair as they seem to be better quality.Pros:- Much sturdier than beginners set.- Requires less tuning then the beginners setCons- The ball on the beginners set is much softer, so the heavy duty ball hurts my tiny hands (I wear hand wraps and boxing gloves). The heavy duty ball is so stiff that I wrapped it in styrofoam.- I can punch the beginners set for 12 consecutive minutes without my hands getting sore, with the heavy duty set my hands are sore in 6-8 minutes. For hands that do lots of manual labour or partner boxing the heavy duty set would probably be fine, but for little office hands I’d recommend the beginners set especially if you’re new to boxing and have no prior training (I took a few months of classes).

This thing is AWESOME!
Super impressed with this piece of equipment! Like anything in this price range - I don’t know how long it will last - but I have had it a few weeks using it everyday - and it has been very solid. Materials are good. Action is good. Really great for Covid staycations and staying fit while practicing your skills.
