What goes in, must come out
Amazon classifies the 5-star rating as "I love it" and for me it is more of love at first sight as I have yet to put the product through its paces. However, from what I have seen of it so far, it certainly does what's expected. It requires just a USB to Micro USB cable to operate which makes it a treat to use. It comes bundled with an useful bunch of software (Epson Scan, Scan to PDF, Document Capture Pro, and ArcSoft Scan-n-Stitch Deluxe) which should come in handy when dealing with various types of documents. I have only used Epson Scan till date in auto mode with few analog photos from the 80s & some documents and the scan quality is simply awesome at 4800 dpi.The scanner can be vertically or horizontally oriented though I always prefer to have it flat as it makes it more convenient to use. The scanning speed is not breath-taking but certainly good enough for home usage, especially at such high resolutions. The one missing feature is "negative scanning" which comes at a higher price for it is certainly quite a niche feature. Unless you have a bunch of undeveloped photographs, this feature isn't an essential one.All in all, a great budget pick over its closest competition from Canon (LiDE 120).

Good Boy.
The Epson Perfection is a cool scanner in the given price range, it gives out crisp images on auto mode as well which I found to be pretty amazing but the user interface is boring...Canon is a sure shot winner over there...My exp is based on Mac ..so can't say about WindowsOne thing which I found to be peculiar was that on auto mode it scans 2 times before presenting the scanned image. Whereas if you select the professional mode and select image dpi to be on a higher side (by default its 300) lets say 600 dpi or 1200 dpi ( 4800 is the highest I suppose) the scan is done only once and the image isn't that fine. (Just an observation). Perhaps in normal usage you wont require such high dpi's on top of it if you wish for achieving amazing results on such high dpi's then in that case you need to come up with a heavier pocket and look for high end scanners.I have used Canon Lide as well, its also a gem of a thing but this time round I thought of giving a chance to epson. One thing which one cant miss to mention is that its considerably small and light, has an inbuilt stand and has OCR capabilities (havn't dig deep enough to give a review on that) which is good and this is what Canon lacksIf only Epson can bring a more refreshed user interface, have a guide mode and deliver much cleaner results even on high dpi's then nothing shall stop this in becoming a Five Star piece.I don't know man... just made my first review on amazon ....I think for the most helpful reviews amazon should provide some kind of incentive or bonus or even a token of appreciation.

Portable scanner for home use
I have used this scanner for scanning documents and photos of various sizes using a PC and Mac, perhaps now about a dozen times. The scanner has been easy to install and use. I used the CD that came with it only in the PC. With the Mac I could use it as soon as I connected it via USB. The results are good and once can choose scan resolution as needed within the limits of the specifications.I like the fact that the scanner itself needn't be plugged in to the wall. This makes it very portable as one can move it around with a laptop with ease. I highly recommend it for home use. I do take a good care of it by keeping it in a drawer away from direct sunlight and dust when not in use. I am hoping that with proper care this scanner will serve well for a long time. Look out for a sale as it goes on deep discount from time to time.I received the scanner in excellent condition from the seller and in a timely manner.

Canon Scanner is better than Epson
This scanner is cheaper than Canon LiDe 120 and offers better resolution. But installing in win10 is a tedious job. After struggling more than 3 hrs following things I have realized. 1. Before installing, disable ur antivirus. 2. The accompanying CD has win8 drivers. U need to connect to net to get win10 drivers. 3. It is not possible to configure all the buttons. pdf button and copy button are working and others are not working. 4. Document and text scanning has to be improved. Colour scanning of photoes is good. 5. I bought this scanner on 10.11.2018. Received on 14.11.2018 and installed it on 15.11.2018. When I tried to register for warranty, I got the message that it is beyond the period of warranty registration!!! I have emailed a complaint to Epson and waiting for the reply. Previously I was using Canon LiDE120. In less than 30 minutes I have installed and configured the scanner. Its document scanning is really good. The scanning software for Canon LiDE 120 is really easy to use. Still I have not tried the OCR software came along with Epson scanner.
