Lots of steam & no leaking or spitting
Love this Iron. No leaking or spitting brown water on my clothes like the Row----brand. And, I never got a full year of use from any of the Row----brand. This iron heats quickly & produces lots of steam. Provides consistent temp. The ceramic sole plate coating performs well. I found it's the only area that wears out after years of lots of heavy use. Self-cleaning works well. I bought previously & lasted 5 + years. Bought again. I will never go back to other brands.

Clouds of steam!
I’m so happy with this purchase. I do moderate of ironing. I love percale sheets and pillowcases but they wrinkle therefore I iron. My 20 yr old iron sprung a leak and would no longer steam. This Chi model puts out steam to rival any dragon. Clouds of steam tame even the most stubborn wrinkles into submission quickly and easily. That said, it goes through water quickly so have a pitcher ready. The retractable cord is a nice touch too. The automatic turn off if you leave it face down or just standing. I wish the plate was just a little bigger but all in all it’s a great iron.

Great Iron but only lasts for 2 years
This is a review after two years of owning the iron. First picture shows how the iron looked when I first bought it. It's fantastic iron: glides smoothly, no water dripping (problem I had a other high end irons), plenty of steam to remove wrinkle from both clothes and sheets. It worked beautifully with constant use ironing different types of clothes and sheets on a regular basis. The different feature dials are easy to use and the water tank is easy to refill (I only use distilled water). However, after two years, the coating started to wear out - please see attached pictures. There is still plenty of steam and no water dripping but the gliding is definitely impacted and I don't like the look of the missing coating and potential of damage to my clothes. I bought another one since I've tried different Rowenta irons and they leaked water after awhile so I'm sticking to the CHI even if it only lasts for 2 years.

Absolutely Incredible!
My mind is completely blown away!!!! I had a fairly basic Rowenta iron and I didn’t know it would make that big of a difference to upgrade, but this is literally cut my ironing times by close to 75% for when I do my king size bedsheets 🥳🥳🥳🥳 I can’t believe it made that much of a difference!!!!! Absolutely amazing!

STOP! After a little over a year. REAL REVIEW.
I have ironed every working day since high school. I am 63 years old. This is by far the, the worst iron I have ever used. Initially, very high hopes. Let me detail in the kindest way possible. First and foremost. The steam is pretty good but it should be hooked directly to a water source for that reason. It will iron a cotton shirt ( XL) and a pair of cotton pants ( 40x32, high side) but your tank will be empty and nearly impossible to visualize because of thick red container. If you have knuckles, move onto another iron. As you iron, you unknowingly hit the dial awkwardly placed inside the handle and switch settings. Catastrophic if you’re in a hurry. The ceramic or titanium-whatever, plate that touches your clothing loses its paint surface after 6 months or so. The iron then deposits brown rust stains to your clothing without warning( See photo of rust stains on khakis that were ruined by this CHI iron. I had to throw them out.) Self-clean does not seem to do anything. The absolute worst part of this over-priced iron is the cord! It is nearly impossible to retract without getting burned and serves no purpose. I have to admit, until today and reading description, I forgot it had a retractable cord. I literally use it every day and leave it plugged in. The cord, over time ( well less than a year, however,) becomes a brittle knotted mess that cannot be untangled as you would with a phone cord or vacuum cord, etc. It is a very intense, high anxiety Art to attempt to iron while pulling the cord without unplugging it. Hold your clothing down , hold the cord at least two to three feet away and pull the steaming hot 1700 watt iron with ALL of your might to attempt to detangle just enough to touch iron to ironing surface. This is the most costly iron I have bought. I know I am excessive when it comes to sharp creases and starting my day looking like a United States Marine. You most likely won’t use yours to the extent that I rely on mine. If you need or like to iron like I do, this is not the best option just because it is more expensive. I’m sorry to say, it is just not a good iron. Not at any price. Not even a little bit. The reviews you see are “ out of the box” high expectation reviews as my initial one was. * Purchased October 2024. Thank you for looking.

So far, works great!
I sew a lot and have been through a few irons in the past year. My Rowenta is pretty good, but randomly spits out black gunk, perhaps I'm not cleaning it right. The Chi Lava has been great. Lots of steam, presses well. I like that it stays on for half an hour before shutting itself off. It is a little heavy, which probably is conducive to pressing, but could be an issue for some. My only real complaint is that it is hard to see the water line. The compartment is red plastic and hard to see through. Otherwise, it has been the best iron that I have used to date.

Extreamly disappointed. The water is leaking. The wire not returning to original position. It already burnt 3 of my adaptors as in Dubai we have different plug. Seller please contact me to arrange return and refund. Terrible product

As a professional seamstress, I’ve been through a lot of irons—Black & Decker, Sunbeam, multiple Rowentas, even an Oliso. Each one eventually disappointed me, usually by leaking, shutting off too soon, or taking forever to heat up. So when I bought the CHI Lava Iron, I was taking a risk on a brand I’d never heard of. But I was desperate for an iron that doesn’t leak, heats up fast, holds plenty of water, and stays hot long enough to actually get work done. After a month or two of daily use, I can honestly say: I love it. - 🔥 Heats up in under a minute—a huge time-saver. - 🧱 The lava ceramic soleplate glides beautifully and holds heat well. - 💨 Steam output is powerful—almost too powerful on the burst setting. If I could tone that down a bit, I would. - 💧 No leaks so far, even when full. (Pro tip: wait until it’s fully hot before tipping—makes all the difference.) - 🕒 Auto shutoff is 30 minutes, which is far better than the 8–12 minutes on most irons. Still not ideal for quilters or seamstresses, but manageable. - ⚖️ Weight is perfect—not too heavy, but heavy enough that I don’t have to push down to get crisp seams. - 💡 Dial is smooth and continuous, not clicky, which threw me at first—but now I love it. One quick turn and I’m at the highest setting. - 💦 Water tank is generous, though the dark plastic makes it hard to see the water level. - 🔺 Precision tip is excellent for darts, pleats, and tight corners. I’ll update this review if anything changes, but for now, this iron is exceeding my expectations—especially at this price point. If you’re a serious sewer or quilter, this one’s worth a look.
