Ambient WeatherWS-4000 Solar Powered UltraSonic Wi-Fi Weather Station

This is the newest in the Ambient Weather group. I have the sensor mounted on top of a pole 18 feet in the air, located about 200 feet from the indoor monitor. The signal easily passes through the brick and heavy drywall of my home. The display is colorful, giving a host of info. I added two indoor sensors to monitor home and garage temps. It interfaces with the AWN app to give any info on the go. The haptic rain sensor and ultrasonic wind speed/ direction sensors are very accurate. A very nice piece!

I recently purchased the Ambient WS-4000 weather station, and I couldn't be happier with it! It was time to replace a 4 year old 2902 where the internals were finally succumbing to the salt air on the Oregon coast. I wanted something a bit more capable of adding more sensors, in particular air quality sensors. I also was attracted to the lack of moving parts so I bought the 4000The good news is that it works as described and was much easier to set up than the 2902 was 4 years ago. The sensors connected automatically and the WiFi and app connections were very straightforward.The bad news is it’s a bit pricey, though that’s probably to be expected for the newest, most advanced integrated unit from Ambient. Unfortunately some of the documentation hadn’t kept up with the new unit (like upgrading firmware instructions). But tech support was quick to respond to walk me through the challenges. Finally, while it’s advertised as being able to support both indoor and outdoor air quality sensors, unfortunately they don’t tell you they use the same channel on the control center so you can actually only use one or the otherOverall, strong positives that gave me 80% of perfect. So it gets 4 stars from me

Shortly after receiving the WS-4000 and mounting pole, I went through the setup as described in the manual (as usual, I ignored all the YouTube and Faecesbook stuff). Everything worked properly on the first "try", and continues to do so. This replaced a very old Davis Vantage Vue which was no longer repairable, and the accuracy is so close, I cannot see the difference. The WS-4000 has a far better and more informative display. Being able to "see" my home weather while away from home is a great feature.

Great product! Being a meteorologist I understand what it takes to get devices you can count on through thick and thin. This is my 5th Ambient Weather device and having no moving parts is fantastic. It was no fun cleaning out the rain cup 4 times a year. Very simple to setup and install.

Pain in the butt to set up. Display panel will not hold memory if power fails. The signal strength the unit puts out is very spotty at best. Our unit distance is about 75 feet and sometimes it loses connection. Would not recommend this unit to anybody.Had an cheap weather station from Lowe’s and it actually did better than this expensive weather station.

I have had more than my share of weather stations, and this ambient weather is the best yet. Don’t hesitate to get the WS4000.

We use this weather station to monitor our weather as we travel in our travel trailer. It works great all except when the power goes out. We always have to go in and reset it to the hepatic sensor for outside. The manufacturer has not responded to emails on how to fix this and so this only gets a three star rating.
