Sin Like The Devil Discreet Cover Edition: A Dark Reverse Harem Romance (Harrowdean Manor Discreet Edition)

Raw and Intense
Tropes:• Reverse Harem• Enemies to Lovers• Mental Institution• Disability & Mental Illness Rep• Slow BurnSo this was quite a slow burn romance, which I personally love…but I know some are more against it. The first half of the book really focuses on building Ripley’s character and background which, in such an intense book, I appreciated and actually thought the pacing worked really well in this instance. There are 3 MMC’s, Raine, Xander and Lennon, so this is a Reverse Harem. I don’t want to spoil anything but Raine was definitely my favourite, I had a bit of a harder time connecting with Lennon but i’m interested see how that story develops, I think there’s definitely a lot more there. My only slight issue was that the ending was quite chaotic and I got a bit muddled, it felt like my brain was being turned 😂 But like, that’s not a bad thing. It does end on a cliffhanger though, so… book 2 asap please? My favourite thing was just how real and raw this book was. I know J Rose drew from a lot of her own personal experiences and I really appreciated that personally, it takes a lot to divulge into personal experiences like that and it really helped me to understand the characters a lot more. None of these characters are particularly “good guys” as you would expect in a romance book.. They’re kind of all morally grey and Anti-hero-ish and have made mistakes, but it was very real.Although this is a spin-off of the Blackwood Institute series, I don’t think you *have* to read them first. I haven’t read the Blackwood Institute books but still thoroughly enjoyed this book. Though it is recommended you read them first!

Insanely good read
I finished this book in like 2 days, I just couldn’t put it down. Being accepted for an arc of hands down one of my favourite authors was such an exciting experience.I adored BI, and the other interconnected series, but I think hands down Ripley might be my absolute favourite fmc out of all J Rose’s books. She is unapologetically (but also apologetically) herself, I love that we have such a morally grey female main, they could never make me hate you Ripley🫶🏻She’s extremely strong, but so raw and realistic in the way that she’s written, you can’t help but relate and empathise with her and what she’s gone through. I also love that we’re getting it told across two timelines, it adds to the excitement of what’s actually happened and what’s to come.J Rose always handles and writes about mental health problems so beautifully and respectfully. Her books have helped make me feel like I do deserve love and understanding, no matter what mental health issues I may face, and for that I can’t thank her enough.I will be (very) impatiently waiting for book 2 of Harrowdean Manor🖤
