Awesome enclosure! Very sturdy and great size! STRONG BUY!!!
I freaking love this thing... and so do my ferrets! My ferrets are 7 months old and had outgrown the single level rabbit cage I had them in originally. As soon as they figured out they had 4 floors they have been living it up! My only warning to buyers is that mine was sa pretty rough setup. They provide the necessary screwdriver but the Sheet metal tabs they threaded for the 8 or so screws you need are very difficult to get by hand. Personally it was pretty easy because I had heavy pliers (to hold the bars straight) and an impact driver to drive the screws in but without those tools this would have been very frustrating. Good directions with pictures and all parts assembled as described (other than the tough screws). Once it is assembled the thing is a beast. It feels extremely sturdy and has excellent storage space down below as well as storage up top. I plan of buying the 3rd unit to extend it even larger for my two ferrets because I'll probably end up purchasing another comrade or two now that I have a great enclosure that is very easy to clean etc. 🤘 Strong buy from me.

Solid quality, generally easy to setup, great accessibility
We have two ferrets, but they aren't free roaming 100% of the time because we have other pets, so I had wanted to upgrade their cage for a bit to give them more space while they were in their cage, and this was the #1 recommended cage on forums when I looked into them, so I figured I would give it a try. This is a perfect setup for us. Plenty of space for both ferrets, lots of options for how to setup the levels, the trays and stairs are perfect (and it came with washable stair covers for them, which was a nice surprise), and everything in the cage is so easy to access. The double doors that swing open wide make cleaning so easy, and everything was easy to setup inside without any issues. Putting this together actually wasn't the worst experience, either. I did it by myself and it took me maybe 45mins, thought it was awkward at some parts where it would be easier to balance certain trays or panels with another person. Only issue I had was a single screw on the bottom didn't fit because apparently they didn't drill the hole large enough, so I had to zip tie the tray to the sides, which was fine. Considering the price tag on this, stupid mistakes like that are annoying, but the entire rest of the cage went together super easily and without any other issues, so overall, it wasn't a deal-breaker. I did wait until this was on sale for Thanksgiving, and it was $110 less than the current price, so if you're waiting to get this, Black Friday was a perfect time, honestly. Well worth it, we absolutely love the cage.

Well Engineered, Badly manufactured, Housed 12 young rabbits successfully
We have a rabbitry. I purchased this last fall (a three story cage) to put in the garage for sick buns or raising orphans or such, where I want to be able to keep a close eye on them all day long. I didn't put it together until recently though when Covid19 struck, the high school closed, and we had to very quickly move all the FFA meat rabbits meant for our county fair to our house. We hurriedly put it together and ended up using it to raise a mixed litter of 12 NZs and Calis. This product was not meant for this, and there have been some challenges, but I still couldn't be more happy with my purchase. The bunnies are active and (relatively) rough, and it has held up very well. (I wouldn't recommend putting this many rabbits in this cage long term though. It really isn't large enough, but desperate times...) My daughter and I put it together in an hour or so. It wasn't hard at all. I'd read the reviews and was prepared for it to be much worse. Each level had at least one panel whose peg was not set straight. A couple of taps with a hammer straightened them and solved the problem. The final product is very sturdy and well made. The knobs on the front don't line up, but they do shut securely. It definitely needs pee guards for rabbits. The first rabbit I put in it was an older buck who potty-trained right away but even he tended to miss occasionally and poop all over the place. The younger rabbits only sort of potty-trained (they much prefer to sleep in their toilet and poop right next to it). I wrapped the cage in plastic to try to help, but I'm going to have to find a way to add pee guards for future use. I cover the pans in fleece or old towels (towels work better, more absorbent). Changing them out is pretty easy. To keep it clean now that the buns are bigger (currently 4.5 lbs), I have to change out the towels daily. It takes about 10 minutes if I move the buns first. The pans all come in and out easily. I started off having the three levels closed to each other (so 4 buns per level) but they pretty quickly figured out how to unhook the ladders so that they could go visiting. There are ways around this (turn the upper pans) but I decided to let them all live together. The holes between levels are small and I doubt they will be able to get through them for more than a few more weeks, but a mini-rex sized rabbit would do just fine. The metal ladders are great and the buns use them. The plastic ladders are crappy. The plastic ladders tie with fabric onto the cage; the buns chewed them loose. Since buns don't actually need the ladders I tossed the plastic ones. One of the reasons I wanted to try this cage was the double opening doors. I really like that. It's much easier to get a buns out than the traditional wire cage hole. The buns can go from the bottom level to the very top in no time at all. In evaluating the buns, my daughter says they've got great back muscling from all the climbing. That's definitely another benefit of this cage. Overall, I'm very pleased with this cage!

Has cons, but a fantastic cage!
Got this cage for my kit, he loves it. Pros: - HUGE in my opinion. I think 3 ferrets could stay in here and still have plenty of room. - Bars are perfect to keep ferrets inside (My kit is small, and he can't even try to squeeze through. His nose can fit, but there's no way he could get stuck). No way they could chew through the bars. - Good Quality - Comes with ramp covers to protect their feet - The ramp connecting the top and bottom portion can be hooked to the bottom of the top portion, making it so the two levels are separated. Could be good if you have two different pets or small pets that don't get along! - Could probably fit squirrels, guinea pigs, chinchillas. Maybe not rats, but I'm no expert. - Things easily attach to the cage, like water bottles, food bowls, etc. - Comes with pretty good quality trays - Things can hang from the top and bottom levels (perfect for hammocks!) - The shelves are pretty big, and not so high up that if they fell or jumped off, they would get hurt (My ferret sometimes forgoes the ramp in favor of throwing himself off the shelves) - Good doors. - Wheels on the bottom, easy to move. - Has a shelf on the bottom. Cons: - My ferret likes to poo in corners, and if your ferret is not very great with litter (like mine) then the poo can go through the bars, and get on the floor. Not fun. - Adding to that, poo is difficult to clean off of the bars. I need to train my ferret better! If your ferret has no problems with litter boxes, you have nothing to worry about! - The doors can be loud. Sometimes I close them and the metal sound scares my ferret. Might just be a problem for my particular ferret. Not loud if you're careful, though! - They can climb the bars. Not a problem for me, my ferret just climbs level to level, but if you have a ferret who chews on things close to their cage, it might be a problem. ASSEMBLY AND SHIPPING: - It says no tools required. I think you need a rubber mallet, and pliers. It comes with a little metal screwdriver. We used a regular sized one, but if you didn't have one I'm sure it would work fine. - YOU NEED AT LEAST 2 PEOPLE TO PUT IT TOGETHER. Unless you're superhuman, you'll need someone to hold a lot of things in place. (if you have been able to build this on your own, you're amazing!) - You have to put some of the sides into place by hammering them in, which is why I think a rubber mallet would be helpful. We couldn't be bothered to find one so we used a tennis shoe. That worked fine. - It is HEAVY! We carried it upstairs, and it's a two person job! They delivery guys had to bring it to our doorstep on a dolly! - Make sure you read all the way through before assembling. There were times we had to backtrack and take sides off to put other sides on. - Doesn't take long to put together. - It is loud to put together, which should be expected. Imagine metal hitting metal. Maybe don't put it together at night. - The box was damaged, but nothing inside was. I expected that because shipping a big object is difficult. - The box had stables in the sides of it to keep it closed. We used pliers to take them out. I don't think there's any other way to take them out! Great cage, seems like it will last a while. I would highly recommend this cage!

Probably the best cage, but it's far from perfect
After reading and watching a lot of reviews, I purchased this cage. Everyone seems to recommend it. I haven't tried a lot of cages, so maybe in comparison this is the best out there. I'm sad that's true though. In theory this should be easy to assemble. The directions are clear and the parts should slide in place. With mine basically every part of this was just slightly off. The first half was doable. The second half required hammering and pliers to make it work. One piece was broken off. It took me like three hours and a helper to get it all together. One of the doors doesn't work right so we basically never open it. In terms of the ferrets, the important part. They mostly love it. They struggle with the ramps even with the covers and putting the levels so they aren't steep. Luckily the way it's set up, if they jump down without a ramp or fall (this happens a lot) they don't get hurt. I guess some other cages the fall could be much further. I'm grateful for that. They have a lot of space and its comfy. I do love how easy to clean it is. However, I did need to get litter boxes because the ferrets will poop in a way that's half in and half out the cage and drops to the floor if you try using puppy pads which I originally did. So I recommend litter boxes or getting those cage guards maybe. It's a mess using just the trays. Overall it's probably got more positives than negatives but I don't love it like I thought I would reading other reviews. It's expensive and I feel like I need to keep buying things to make it work. Something to keep in mind. That said it really may be the best out there. I hope the options get better.

Excellent Enclosure
We have two cohabitated Chinchillas since birth as they are sisters. We have never had any aggression issues but wanted a larger enclosure for them. We previously had a Marshall Double enclosure and wanted the Ferret Nation. We bought this Double FN 182 here and the add on layer (FN183) from another merchant as it was $50 cheaper. The unit arrived with no visible box damage and on- time. Once we opened the box we noticed a pan was broken in two pieces. I took pics of it for claim via Midwest Homes for a replacement pan. I contacted Midwest Homes and received a response today. I was specifically waiting for the response prior to doing this review. Midwest Homes is replacing the tray at no cost . There was no damage noted to the frame and wires. Set up- Be aware that none of the parts have any markings on them for easier identification but the pics on the instruction manual helped. You will need a rubber mallet handy and a Phillips head screwdriver for the 10 screws included. Eight screws are for the base and two for the very top as it has a 2 swing clips to help keep the top on. It took about 30 min to construct. Ramps- These are a little bit of a pain if use have a Chinchilla vs a Ferret. Chin's are jumpy and mine have dislodged the ramp and making it fall. I modified it so that is not an issue. For a Ferret, I would not see any reason to modify. Overall, the enclosure is very sturdy, solid, secure and have no regrets. Ferret Nation(FN) Vs Critter Nation(CN)- Both of these enclosures are made by Midwest Homes and are "identcal" with a few caviats noted below. The FN is the top tier quality level as the CN is the second tier quality level. The FN has thicker guage bars, 1" vertical design spacing and appears to have a better powder coating for rust prevention. The CN has thinner bars (More bendy for sure) in a 1/2" horizontal design, and it seems lesser quality powder coating. We chose the FN over the CN due to the horizontal stronger bars. The 1" spacing makes it easier to pet and provide small proper treats when you want too. Plus the 1" is nicer when you just want to stand there and provide some attention to them and just stick your finger through and give them a scratch on the head etc. This is a slot more difficult with the CN.

#1 Ferret Cage
Best ferret purchase I’ve made. I originally purchased a wooden ferret cage, big mistake. It was difficult to clean, cramped, and smells absorbed into the wood. This has made my life much easier. The girls have room to play when they’re not out and it’s very easy to clean. I was able to put it together myself, though it would be faster with 2 people. It has held up beautifully for the last year and it has many more to go. Maybe a little pricey, but worth it for how well it’s built.

Good product, bad manufacturing
Love the product, didn't love all the production mistakes. One of my base panels came with a wire melded into the attachment hole so the pieces can't fit in. Mind you, this metal can't be soldered, so we had to carry the heavy door panel to a workshop and wear away at the base with specialised equipment. My entire cage's slightly unbalanced because of that, as can see in pics. Doors don't close evenly either. In addition to that, packaging was so sturdy we could only rip it to shreds. No hope of making any returns after that. And the product had dust and finishing oil all over when we took it out. Don't know how long it's been sitting in their warehouse, but my hands came off black at one point. The only one I can give kudos to is the polite delivery man. Overall, don't buy if you don't have access to a workshop. Don't know if this is just Amazon's treatment for Asians currently or a unique case, but have a back up plan before you click buy.

Brilliant!
Brilliant, easy to use. And was relatively easy to set up. The door latched are easy to use and safely secure. Plenty space, I have four ferrets they free roaming but this is their home. It is tall so you will need a ramp. The quality overall is second to none, its sturdy and easy to clean as well
