Good replacement
My original 3G iPhone I had in a drawer. Battery totally shot. I purchased and with a little guidance from YouTube I was able to change, charge and retrieve data I’d forgotten about. Battery still charging normally today after all this time.

Works great
Check iFixit for videos on how to put this battery in. It's not too difficult at all if you're technically inclined, just be careful to not damage the ribbon cables and connectors. The only downside to this is that you can't really use the device anymore, there's no apps, no updates, and the (awful) iTunes software doesn't exist anymore, but you can still get an Apple Devices app for Windows and a Mac will still connect to get your saved music and photos off the device if that's what you need to do. Now I have a nice, functioning museum piece.

Don’t waste your money
IPhone 3G replacement battery barely better than the old battery. Good for about an hour and half of use on WiFi streaming music. Voltage quickly drops and shuts down apps. Rapidly drops from 50% charge to zero with no warning. Purchased two. Same results in two different phones with two batteries. Cannot recommend these. Don’t waste your money.

Good battery but poor quality tools
I followed instructions from YouTube and various repair sites for the iPhone 3G and 3GS. The replacement is relatively easy. I ran into a couple of issues: one of the screwdrivers provideddid not do a good job at removing the screw for the camera. I had to find a larger screwdriver with more surface area and better torque to remove it. One of the spudgers that came with it broke. Slight pressure was needed to remove the old battery from the adhesive. You are supposed to gently wiggle the spudger and apply leverage from all contact points around the battery but doing this broke the spudger. I then used the bigger spudger and that one was bent and nearly broke. Overall, the battery works fine but the tools provided were or poor quality.

Paperweight
Battery dead on arrival. Too dead to safely take a charge.
