The best of both worlds
We were thrilled to come across this product. Our daycare doesn't accept glass bottles and was less thrilled with stainless steel (and there are also some lingering issues about just how much will leach from stainless). They have no problem with these bottles and have actually remarked that they wish that something like this had been available for their children. Our daughter is fine with the nipple that comes with the bottle. It did take her one or two tries to get used to it though that was expected as it was a very different shape and size from what she had been using. The nipple base is a less common size so you are more limited in options if you find that the nipple doesn't work. We have found that the nipples leak very little which is generally good though challenging if you're used to testing milk temp - just squeeze lightly and out it will come. There are two primary areas where the design could be improved. First, there are not many threads on the base (or cap) so that you only have just over one turn to secure it in place. You have to be careful to get it on or else it could pop off. I find myself backthreading to make sure that it's seated well and then turning down. We haven't had any problems with leaking once the cap is actually on. (And it's pretty clear that it's not seated well otherwise.)Less critical is that the volume markings are somewhat variable between bottles and not super accurate. They're in the right vicinity but off by enough that you notice. (Ours all read slightly less than what's actually in there.) In general, they have a look and feel (up close) that seems a little cheaper than one would expect given the price (though the nipple seems very good quality and durability). We've only had ours a couple weeks, though, so can't say for sure how they'll hold up. We hand wash ours, though, so I'm not overly concerned at this point.** Update ** After two months of use, we're still generally satisfied with these. We have had one bottle that somehow completely emptied because of a leak (they have to store them largely on their side at daycare as they are too tall to stand upright). Small leaks once or twice though not substantial amounts. In general they seem to be holding up well and are showing little signs of wear.

I originally loved the bottle, but....
I never before wrote a review that was not a 5 or 1 star. When I was reading reviews for this bottle, I was really excited. Originally I got 2 of them (different sizes) from my baby registry, then bought this bigger one myself. The nipple on the smaller bottle was awesome! barely anything could get through, but the bigger bottles, even though still same nipple were letting out much more milk.Overall, about 2 months ago I would have given this bottle 5 stars, BUT, since then 2 glass inserts are gone since they are too fragile. So I would like to outline the "cons" for this bottle:-expensive-replacement inserts can only be purchased on 5 phases website, and they do not have free shipping on every order, only 70+-extremely fragile glassPros:- easy to read measurements- nice to hold design- very good for heating milk in hot water (kiinde)After 4 months of using bottles - I prefer lifefactory glass bottles.

... a glass bottle inside of a plastic one is brilliant, there are a few things about this one ...
While I think this idea of having a glass bottle inside of a plastic one is brilliant, there are a few things about this one that should be fixed.Pros:-It's glass, I don't have to worry about leaching God knows what into my little one's food-Plastic on the outside, so smart, it protects it pretty well-Generally the nipple and cap screw on with few problems, only occasionally have I had it leak on meCons:-The nipple doesn't really hold it's shape, whenever my baby's eating the tip of the nipple kind of sinks into the rest of it making it hard for him to latch-The glass isn't tempered so you can't pour boiled water and then cool it with boiled ice cubes. Annoying.-A small mouth, hard to mix formula in (not impossible, just kind of annoying)All in all, great concept, I hope they continue to tweak the product, but until then, I'll stick with my Born Free bottles.

Beware vendors other than etailz when buying this bottle
Ordered my first 5phases bottle in November from etailz on Amazon and was pleased enough to order 2 more in February. Unfortunately, although the descriptions and photos were the same, the subsequent 2 were from two different vendors and they each sent the older model (hexagon rather than cylinder liner) which was discontinued due to manufacturing problems with the ring that made it challenging to seal and uncap. I was confused and disappointed in the product variability so emailed 5 Phases. The owner very graciously phoned to explain the change in manufacturing that had been made to improve the bottles, and offered to replace the older ones I had received. I am very impressed with the personal touch she demonstrated. If not purchasing from 5 Phases directly or from etailz, be sure to verify that you will be getting the round cylinder model rather than the old hexagonal cylinder. The new model is great.

Love the concept could use some tweeking
I think the glass could be a little thicker. The bottle was fully enclosed in the plastic case and fell off the counter and shattered inside the bottle. I was thankful it was in the plastic case but disappointed that it broke so easily. I have had Glass evenflo bottles fall from the same spot and not break. I feel the inside glass could be a little thicker like the evenflo bottles.

The best possible baby bottle for dads
As a father, I particularly love this bottle for two reasons:1. It makes me appear hip in front of the other dads, since I picked out my own bottle.2. The glass insert warms up SO MUCH FASTER in warm water than a plastic bottle does. When my daughter is issuing her calliopean hunger shrieks, this thing is a lifesave. The glass transfers heat so much quicker thank clunky plastic. But it's then sheathed in plastic to save her little hands, and gives me peace of mind.I would 100% buy this again and I will definitely give as gifts.
