Fujifilm Instax Square Black Film - 10 Exposures

I mostly use Polaroid film, but I have to hand it to Fuji for this film. It is infinitely better indoors than Polaroid film, and the color and contrast are excellent too, especially for instant film. The only drawback compared with Polaroid is the size of the image which is a bit smaller. Not as small as the crazy small Polaroid Go film (which is cute, but I need my glasses to see the pics lol) but a bit on the smaller side. However, if you scan them they are wonderful to keep in your Photos library, and you still have an original! The other plus is this Fuji film is cheaper than Polaroid film AND you get 10 pics instead of 8 AND it only takes 2 minutes or so to develop instead of 15 minutes AND you have fewer restrictions than Polaroid which must be kept in the dark to develop (so you can't have the fun of watching it appear before your eyes), temperature limitations, less color accuracy, less contrast...etc. Don't get me wrong, I still like Polaroid cameras & film, but for everyday stuff, especially indoors, Fuji is the way to go.

A 5 year old took these photos with the Fujifilm Instax SQ40. A Five Year old. Not me - an adult with steady hands. A child with a sugar rush but they turned out exactly how I wanted them to. Don’t mind myself being forced to say “Happy Halloween - Trick or Treat”… it is in fact the end of November & it was in fact for his Birthday…. 👀 Anywho, the point is - the nostalgia behind these is perfection. I am a huge fan of B&W photos to begin with + Polaroid styles. I love the Squares but wanted the cost efficiency with going the Fujifilm route - so here I am, right? The child was obviously going to be invested in stealing this from me too; right? The joy these photos spread with people from ages of 4 year olds (not even joking) to 60+ year olds was amazing - everyone got to bring home a little trinket & the little birthday boy felt absolutely accomplished being the one to take the photos. He felt proud of himself being the one to take them as well. This film created a bonding for everyone in attendance + truly lifelong memories - & while it might be cliche to some… it was everything to him. I highly recommend this.

It came quick and they’re Matte black which I love. I’ve noticed the quality feels better but overall just like regular film exept black. Have had this photo for years and still looks great ! Hanging on my fridge. The value is kind of low being that it’s only 10 film but worth it for the color

This looks great, has amazing sharpness, contrast and even non-photographers can appreciate it. I hold the unpopular opinion that this B&W is the best film for instax sqare. Don't get me wrong, the color film has an amazing potential beyond what a SQ1 can do. But this B&W tops it.

The pictures really look awesome with this paper, you get 10 papers in different colors, usually in a gradient from 2-3 colors that follow the rainbow pattern, so you can more or less guess which one is going to come next and prepare for it.
