These are the right pens
Excellent Pens. I bought them for use in a very, very busy quality control department of a local machine shop. A place where a pen might last a week before the ink runs out and these pens are amazing; they don't drag or rip paper like some of the others I have tried. The ball point is smooth, and the ink delivery is steady and consistent. These are the ones to get if a .28mm is what you are looking for.

SUPERB
I WILL NOT SAY THIS ENOUGH, THESE PENS ARE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! you get 6 for $6.99 can't beat that, and they write so beautifully they don't skip or catch on the paper, smooth gliding ink, so easy to use and barrel is just the right size to be super comfortable, I accidently left my pen open but when I got up the next day and noticed it my heart broke. But then I tried writing with it and still the ink came out perfectly with no skips in the lines, just lovely continuous lines. I will DEFINITELY be buying more of these and my mom loves them too. I got her to go buy some as well!! Please please please continue to sell these cuz they changed the writing game for me. I write a lot, multiple pages in my journal a day, I write poetry everyday, I write down notes.... And still this pen is holding up stronger than ever!! CONGRATULATIONS on an utterly superb product!!

Best suited for very fine detail work but too light, faint and delicate for general writing
I needed some fine tip ball point or gel pens to take notes on printed, tight documents. I usually do not use fine point pens, preferring a larger size tip so I didn’t know which brand to buy. I ordered a bunch of them and tried them all out. I’m going to include my reviews of all of them in each product review for your convenience. Upenote Gel Ink Pen (YC-TG-26, 0.28 mm) The Upenote YC-TG-26 is an ultra-fine gel pen aimed at precision writing, with a 0.28 mm tip and a minimalist design with both white and black bodies. The pen includes a smooth upper barrel and a clear, nubbed grip, with the tip size clearly labeled for convenience. In use, however, the pen falls short of expectations. The lightweight, compact build feels almost too small and insubstantial, making it less comfortable for extended writing. I didn’t like what my handwriting looked like when I used them - too crabbed and messy. The ink output is also noticeably light, lacking the depth and contrast that I prefer. While the fine tip offers precision, it may be too fine for everyday writing, resulting in handwriting that appears faint or less fluid. At $6.99 for a set of six, the price is reasonable, but the overall experience does not stand out. Verdict: Best suited for very fine detail work, but too light, too faint, and too delicate for general writing. Returning. Taja Gel Ink Pens (0.5 mm) The Taja Gel Ink Pens offer a basic, budget-friendly option with a 0.5 mm tip and a colorful silicone grip design. Marketed as “smooth writing” and “fast drying,” they deliver a functional but unremarkable writing experience. The pens feel noticeably cheap in the hand, with a lightweight construction that lacks balance or substance. While the silicone grip adds some comfort, it doesn’t fully compensate for the overall low-quality feel. Writing performance is decent—smooth enough for everyday use—but nothing stands out in terms of ink richness or flow. Smudging is minimal, which is a practical benefit. At just $3.99 for a set of six, they are inexpensive and functional, but not pleasant to use, making them easy to pass on. Verdict: Serviceable but uninspiring—adequate performance paired with a cheap feel. Returning. Pilot Juice Up Gel Pens (0.4 mm, Set of 6 Colors) The Pilot Juice Up pens offer a really nice writing experience with a 0.4 mm tip that balances precision and smoothness. The set includes six colors, each with matching ink, although the ink shades do not always perfectly match the pen’s exterior color indicators. The design feels more premium than typical gel pens. A subtly textured upper barrel mimics the feel of metal, while the colored silicone grip provides comfort and control. The pens feel well-balanced in the hand, making them suitable for longer writing sessions. Performance is consistently strong: the ink flows smoothly with minimal skipping, producing clean, crisp lines. Smudging is present but minimal and manageable for most uses. At $14.37 for six pens, they are pricier than budget sets but justify the cost through quality and comfort of use. Verdict: A high-quality, precise gel pen with a comfortable grip and dependable performance. Keeping. Upenote Gel Ink Pen (YC-GP-25, 0.18 / 0.28 / 0.38 mm Set) This Upenote set offers a range of ultra-fine tip sizes (0.18, 0.28, and 0.38 mm), with color-coded bodies and clearly labeled sizes for easy identification. The lightweight plastic construction features a geometric upper barrel and soft rounded silicone grips for added comfort. In writing performance, these pens excel. The ink flow is smooth, precise, and consistent across all sizes, making them particularly well-suited for detailed writing, annotations, or fine note-taking. The quick-drying ink is a standout feature, significantly reducing smudging. Despite these strengths, the overall feel may still be too lightweight for users who prefer a more substantial pen such as myself. Additionally, the ultra-fine tips, while precise, may not suit those who prefer bolder, more expressive handwriting. Perhaps better for fine drafting or artwork but they don’t feel like they will work for me for note-taking in small spaces, which is what I am looking for. At $8.99 for six pens, the value is solid given the performance. Verdict: Excellent precision and smoothness, but ultimately too fine and lightweight for everyday preference. Returning. “Gel Ink Pen” (0.5 mm, Set of 8) This unbranded set of gel pens is a standout among budget options. Each pen features a colored silicone body (all with black ink) and includes a metal ball in the clip, adding a subtle but noticeable weight that improves balance and handling. The pens feel surprisingly good in the hand—comfortable, slightly weighted, and well-balanced. Writing performance is excellent for the price: the 0.5 mm tip produces smooth, consistent lines that enhance clarity and readability. The ink is dark and flows evenly, making handwriting appear cleaner and more controlled. Smudging with a highlighter is present, but minimal. At $7.63 for eight pens, this set offers exceptional value. Verdict: A comfortable, smooth-writing pen that punches well above its price point. Keeping. Pilot Acroball T Series (0.5 mm, Pack of 5 + 1 Thick Tip) The Pilot Acroball T Series delivers an excellent writing experience, combining smooth performance with ease of use. The set includes five 0.5 mm pens with colored bodies and black ink, along with one black-bodied pen featuring a thicker tip, which writes more heavily and requires more pressure. The standard 0.5 mm pens glide effortlessly across the page with almost no pressure required, producing clean, consistent lines. The writing experience is exceptionally smooth and controlled, making these pens ideal for extended use. The lightweight body, smooth upper barrel, and textured rubber grip contribute to a comfortable and ergonomic feel. In contrast, the thicker-tip pen feels less refined—it writes more heavily and lacks the effortless glide of the finer tips. In fact, I can honestly say that it feels awful to write with but since it is an “extra,” I don’t really care. I don’t plan to use it. One of the standout features is the complete absence of smudging when highlighting, making these pens highly reliable for quick writing and note-taking. At $12.75 for the set, the value is strong given the performance and consistency. One strange note, the pens came not in a box but in a plain clear plastic baggie. Not a problem for me, but seemed strange and unusual, more like an etsy package than an Amazon sale. Verdict: Exceptionally smooth, reliable, and easy to use—an excellent everyday pen, with only the thicker tip falling short. Keeping.

THE PERFECT ROMANCE, AS IF ROMEO AND JULIET WERE PENS!
These are great pens, with very pleasing visual black and white, balanced, aesthetics: a most certain and definitive—right out of the package—beautiful. Functionality is superb, with what seems so far to be great durability. As well, their form factor is very comfortable in the hand. No leakage that I can tell. And the ink appears to be spot on. I’d recommend these pens to anyone; just make sure you like and enjoy fine/thin line writing. Because that’s what they definitely offer! UPDATE: I had one issue, where a pen clip broke, while trying to place it over a pocket—very disappointing…but still impressed with the pens.

Finest pens I've used
These pens write great. The tip is very fine, which helps the gel ink to dry quicllu and never smear when I'm writing. Theyre also not too small like some other options at this price point and help my hands not strain while using them for extended periods of time.

My favorite pen
I love precise pens for note taking. I write in cursive a lot and these do not skip. They are very easy to grip and have great ink quality. The price is great for such good quality pens.

Slim, Lightweight, Fine Tip for Smooth Writing
These pens are such a great balance between fun and functionality. I love that the barrels are simple and slim, comfortable to hold and black ink—so they still work for professional or everyday use. The fine tip writes very smoothly and consistently without skipping, which makes a noticeable difference if you write often or like neat, clean lines. I’ve been using them for note-taking and planning, and they’ve held up really well. If you want something a little more aesthetic without sacrificing quality, these are a solid choice.
