Very useful, with some minor room for improvement to the app itself.
This rain gauge is replacing my digital wireless (not WiFi) rain gauge. The additional functionality of phone-app access has thus far been quite appreciated, with a few areas of improvement needed within the app. -The device was easy to pair to my existing Rainpoint hub. (Those that say otherwise perhaps need to be sure they insert the batteries *during* the pairing process, as it will not pair otherwise.) -that app is quite simple, and I enjoy the ability to look at detailed rain history. Much easier to check when/how much it last rained than my previous gauge. -Calibration offset adjustments are simply made from within the app, instead of mechanical "guess and check" screw adjustments on my previous gauge. However, there is no guidance on HOW to perform a calibration test itself. I discovered that an Illy brand coffee can was the exact outer diameter of the gauges funnel. I made a pinhole in the bottom of the can so that it dripped once or twice a second or so, and filled with 4” of water. The gauge measured almost exactly 4” of water. (Note that this would only work with a cylindrical container of the same diameter as the funnel, otherwise more math would need to be done to calculate what volume of water corresponds to “inches”). Rainpoint should simply specify within the app that 8oz of water should equal X.XX" of measured rainfall. Or better yet, have a "calibration mode" where you run 8oz of water through the gauge, and it automatically performs the necessary calculations to apply the correct calibration offset. -A major missing function within the app, however, is the ability to delete or manually adjust measured rainfall. For example, I’m unable to clear the 4” of data from my calibration test, and it continues to be factored into my rainfall totals. Or perhaps an irrigation sprinkler added some accidental measurements. There *needs* to be a way to clear false measurements like these out. It’d also be nice to be able to add rainfall, if the gauge was left under cover during a rain event, or a blockage in the funnel caused inaccurate measurements or something. I think the best place for such a function would simply be the chart section of the App. A user could simply click an hour, day, etc and be given an option to manually edit the rainfall data. Overall, it works great, and does what I need it to do. I'm encouraged and hopeful that some simple updates could be made to the app itself, improving the products usefulness with time.

Ok Product but poor battery life.
The problem with Rainpoint wireless products especially the wireless moisture meters is the battery life. I have yet to have a battery in any of the moisture meters last more than 3 months. I have tried moving them and the wireless receiver and it seems to make no difference. I have went with much better high end batteries and no difference. When you have as many as I do that's a lot of money replacing batteries. I am also not real thrilled with the app but can live with it. If they fixed the battery life issue I could give it maybe a 4. It could be the quality of their transmitters in the moisture meters. If you buy these then stock up on AAA batteries because you will be changing them often.

Find another solution, if possible
The first one i ordered in July came with a Hub, and my order says it was used though i never buy used so what happened there? The second one, that is for a different home, did not come with a Hub. Furthermore, nowhere while ordering this item does it say exactly which hub will be compatible and that it is necessary. The amazon marketing person should be fired! I am now reading reviews that some hubs aren't compatible. I just checked the price of the hub and its more expensive than the gauge and may not be compatible. This is ridiculous! If you don't need this product, dont buy it. Its a huge pain and expensive for how poorly engineered it is.

Did not support my previous rainpoint wifi hub
I have a rainpoint wfi hub and sprinkler that works fine. I bought the rain gauge to add to my hub, but the gauge was not in the list. I installed new sw that showed the rain gauge, but it could not scan it.

Little help please
Works well. First time I left town it went offline. When I got back I found the USB plug wasn't working, plugged it into the other USB and back to work. Previous comments regarding the hub but with the hub you got nothing. What I really need it to do is to alert me when a certain amount of rain has occurred. I know that a fast half inch of rain means that I have to go check the roof drains so they don't overflow. Would be great if I could get a notification. It has reference to notifications but I can't figure out how to make them work. Any ideas?

Replacing AcuRite gage
Seems to work well. Have not yet understood all controls or had enough rain for good test. Using to replace AcuRite gages since they are abandoning the sensor network system they put out a few years ago. They apparently only want to do weather stations!

Only works with a specific smart hub.
Description is lacking key information. This device requires the HWG023/HIS019 hub only and requires installation of the HomeGar app. I own two different Rainpoint smart hubs and neither will recognize or connect to this device. So I am forced to drive to a Staples to drop it off or pay $7 return shipping for a refund. Unless you are buying or already own the hub listed above, avoid this device. "Currently, the HCS012 rain gauge needs to be connected via the HWG023/HIS019 hub and used with the Homgar or RainPoint Home app. Best regards, Rainpoint Customer Service Team"

Not worth it
The Rainpoint high precision rain sensor does not connect I will return it. I have a smart dual water timer with hub QR will not scan ,did not work to install The Rainpoint Tuya app does not have a option for a rain sensor. No rest button, no indicator light. I inserted the batteries and the circuit board fell out, it seems cheap.
