This is excellent, a bit of a "plain Jane" but good ...
This is excellent, a bit of a "plain Jane" but good sound and ultra stable tuning. I use "Greek" tuning CC FF AA DD (low to high). Same as guitar but down one tone. Very easy to record it certainly adds another colour to my recordings.

seconds or b-standard product
a substandard product, arrived with a stain on the spruce front and the inlays were deeper than the fretboard, making it look cheaply made. But accepted this as a superficial problem and accepted a slight discount, yet when it came to playing this bouzouki, the strings all ring terribly when played anything other that ridiculously gently. Played nothing like the same standard model i played in a music shop, that was incredible beautiful but it was £165 so i tried to save some money buying it via amazon and i deeply regret that now. it's now something i cannot play to enjoy and learn further the Bouzouki, it's a seconds or a b-standard product that should't be described as a New instrument. The company were reluctant to help me out other than discounting the fact that it's poorly put together... when it came to the playability, they didn't want to know and were not helpful in the slightest, now i have just something to clutter up my house... thats how much love lost i have for this item.

Not entirely successful
This bouzouki arrived with a few cranky tuners so I sent it back. The company were very good about it and helpful about finding a replacement. Other than that, it seemed like a good basic instrument with excellent tone. In the 40 years since I last played one, however, they have grown to the size of guitars (those Irish and American fellas who play them nowadays are big guys!) or it is almost certain that I have shrunk although I didn't think I'd shrunk quite that much - perhaps it is both! Anyway, after a bit of consultation with them, I bought a mandola which is a much easier to handle and quicker to fret; we've been pretty happy since.P.S. 2012 update. After a substantial rebuilding, the mandola became a decided favourite. I had to replace the tuners and move the nut forward to get good intonation, however.

Beautifully made. Hard to tune
Beautifully made. Hard to tune, but once tuned gives a nice fat sound. Incidentally, fits into a standard banjo gig bag.

BOUZOUKI
This is a bargain of a lifetime. Fabulously made instrument, and well finished. In my opinion a great sound and more than good enough to get started on. I am amazed at the quality of it.

Also have had issues with a few tuning pegs. Strings that are supplied with the instrument are very poor managed to snap the d string within 5 mins of playing which is a first!!! For the price paid though did not honestly expect anything else. Have been a mandolin player for years and just fancied a change of scale. For the price this is a good instrument well made and has a bright and loud tone also looks attractive.
