I have a Fiio M11S that I manged to bounce off the foot of my chair and crack the screen. I sent that to China for repair and sat without a music player. Then I bought an M300 which couldn't drive my cans. I sold that and bought this. It is good. It is also nicely styled IMO. I bought a separate strap which is also v good. The MSEB equaliser is beyond me but is very capable. It sounds quite neutral and I can't quite get the bass to where I like it. I would recommend it but...my music is on a separate sd card for convenience although I write to it though usb typically. From fiio to hiby no issue. From hiby to fiio however there appears to be some incompatibility in file format. Even though they look the same, neither the fiio nor my laptop can see anything written to the sd card whilst it was mounted in the R4. I had to delete the files in the R4 then rewrite the to the sd card from my laptop. So. Yeah. That's a thing.

I bought the R4 due to its specs indicating that it had been designed to cater for DSD files independently from PCM processing. The DSD playback is truly excellent, sounding very natural compared to the same music via hi-res PCM ( using Stevie Wonder's Musiquarium pcm & dsf files ).That said, PCM sounds surprisingly less "digital" compared to my Hidizs DAP.It's a genuine very high quality hifi source, proving to be superior to cd playback ( using Eric Clapton unplugged cd & dsf files )The R4 is a great value for money DAP which is especially capable with DSD playback. Highly recommend.

3.5 aswell as 4.4mm inputs. Good sound and amplification. I use youtube music and it works great for that aswell as putting all my flac files on the sd card and playing them through UAPP application. Really good power and works with my Senn HD599’s, HD6XX, Senn Momentum 4’s via bluetooth, senn HD569’s, Hifiman Editoion XS and all my 15 pairs of iems. It also works as a tablet style device so can watch media on it and play podcasts etc a great designed DAP with most modern functions. I do not regret this purchase!

Only had this for a couple of weeks, but the functionality of this unit and the storage capacity.Sound quality is excellent 👌🏿 pared with my Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro X headphones.Well worth the money.

Item arrived fine and no obvious signs of damage to packaging or device itself, but within the first couple hours of use it go soo hot that it straight up burnt my hand and now won't even turn on, which has me thinking the battery has also been damaged which is now just a straight up fire hazard. Can't even return the item now as went to post it back and the lady at the post office said that due to the potential damaged battery and state of the item it would be illegal to post it back to Amazon, so now just have to dispose of it at an authorised recycling place. And I assume I won't ever see my money back for this item, so that was a waste of like £236. DO NOT BUY!!!

sounds really good quality display take 2TB SD card really good only one issue I had with it operating system is set to Chinese time not UK time the only way I sorted it is a full factory reset then could pit it in UK English language and time. Really good battery. It's a shame that accessories are no longer available for it

I'm really happy with this DAP as this is my first HiBy. Like most people, I wanted a dedicated player because my iphone is full of other stuff and I don't like my music being interrputed by outside distractions. In addition to using it at home, I plan to take it with me for travel to reduce draining my iphone's battery when sitting around on an airplane or train.The R4 feels good in my hands and has a "Back to the Future" Doc Brown gadget look eventhough HiBy was aiming for a cyberpunk or Evangelion vibe. I tried on the TPU case that comes with it and it feels too plastic, but fits like a glove for people who don't want their R4 to get all scratched up. To me, the R4 feels more tactile naked as I like the feel of the aluminum. The screen comes with a preinstalled plastic screen protector and they included a spare in the box. Like any Android device, I could add my own wallpaper and I think it screen quality is good enough for government work.Just like with other Androids, it was easy to download apps from Google Play. I use the Sonos app to listen to streaming music to my entire home speaker system, and Apple Music for streaming playlists that I made on my Mac. Transferring files from my Mac for offline listening onto the SDXC card was easy too. However, the only snag was with the HiBy Player app scanning the music files improperly and being unable to play in the library. The remedy was to download Poweramp, which efficiently scanned all the music files and flawlessly played on my wired Sony headphones. Powerplay has nice EQ options too. I accidentally discovered that I can simultaneously play music on my Sonos speakers with Sonos app while listening to different music on my Sony headphones using PowerAmp when using the 3.5mm plug. The Sonos app and Apple Music streamed really well too on the Sonos speakers. I'm really glad that I didn't spend $600-$1400 on other DAPS as this $250 R4 suits me perfectly fine for my needs and it looks unique.

This DAP is great with custom EQ options, i tune for fun sound. R4 provides plenty of options for playback 4.4, 3.5 mm and Usb-c. I am an iphone user, this works well with apple music with offline downloaded music when you always want your library with you. Great choice if you don't want to spend a lot for a quality DAP.
