Secret Wars

I've not finished it yet but so far it's good. I just really dont like the art at all, other than that the story is amazing so far.

The book itself arrived in relatively pristine condition. As you can tell by the product description, this is a single-volume omnibus that collects the entire 2015 Secret Wars event, the Jonathan Hickman run, into a single book. As someone more used to reading manga, I was surprised by the sheer size (lengthwise, that is), as well as colourfulness and glossy texture of the pages. This is definitely an event to be experienced in print rather than pixels. The story, as well as the penmanship hooked me instantly. I finished the entire book in one sitting, which is no small feat, because while I'm a bibliophile who has been reading books, both novels/novellas and comics, from a young age, this is no small book either. A surface knowledge of the various characters/factions involved in this event helps, but is not absolutely necessary. If you're an MCU stan, and watch channels like The Den Of Nerds, Nerdist and New Rockstars, you should already have enough knowledge to be able to enjoy this tome without being overly confused. The concept of 'Variants' from Loki and more recent MCU titles like Spider-Man: No Way Home and the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel is helpful and makes moments that should confuse a complete newbie not only understandable, but also highly enjoyable. How the comic book versions of certain characters like Thanos, the Mad Titan, differ from their MCU avatars helps, but is not needed. Regardless of whether you picture the Mad Titan as Josh Brolin, or the comic book baddie created by Jim Starlin, his behaviour in this run will not confuse you, nor will that of certain allied characters. Similarly, certain characters like T'Challa and Peter Parker act very similar to their on-screen versions. It is hard to look at T'Challa and not fondly remember the late Chadwick Boseman. Similarly, Spider-Man is very reminiscent of Raimi-Verse (Tobey Maguire) Spider-Man, and Miles Morales seems very similar to the one from Sony's new CGI universe(s) [I haven't actually watched Into the Spiderverse yet; please don't cast me out as a heretic.]. The plot twists are not always the most predictable either, at least for someone who has never encountered characters not currently in the MCU-19999 timeline before, and this makes for some really entertaining and shocking moments. Overall, an extremely entertaining, enthralling and beautiful comic book run, which makes me want to read the original Secret Wars run from the '80s, since certain key characters like Miles Morales, did not even exist back then. Would I read it again? Yes, but only to understand details that eluded me on my first read. This also makes me curious as to how Kevin Feige and team will pull off the Secret Wars event in the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse, presumably helmed by the visionary Russo brothers. My only real gripe with this run is the palpable lack of Deadpool, at least front and center. But that's a compromise I might have to make for now. With Deadpool joining the MCU-19999 timeline soon, his presence in the on-screen Secret Wars event is almost certainly guaranteed, given how much merch Ryan Reynolds moves.

I knew this would be a must read for me, to witness the end of the universe I'd come to know and love, and see how it would start anew. But I didn't know that I would love every minute of the read! I expected epic collisions, huge battles, and a ominous, but empty plot on the way to the reboot. But I was surprised to find a character rich, plot driven, phsycological, ethereal, and rewarding story. The action was as promised, and the art was fantastic throughout, but as I read, I found myself entrapped in a deep story that begged to be read. The plot gave justice to the long history of the Marvel universe, with cameos and references throughout, but it wasn't cheap, and it wasn't a gimmick. It was a plot that could only be fully explored and keep you on the edge if your seat with a knot in your stomach by the universes being destroyed with no magic undo at the end. The consequences were real and lasting, which lent credence to the epic proportions. The build of the plot didn't feel rushed or forced as I had expected, but it felt properly paced to ease you through each transition and the realization that you'll never see this vast universe the same way again. Though the 'resolution' into the 'prime earth' of the new Marvel universe closed to quickly for my taste, the whole volume was a rewarding and exciting read. A must read for any Marvel fan from any era.

Me dizeram que essa saga é muito BOM!!! Estava esperando esse dia chega para começar a ler, infelizmente veio Inglês mas não tem problema irei arrumar um jeito de entender a História!!
