Octopus Escapes Again!: A Marine Biology Book for Kids Perfect for the Classroom (Includes Octopus Facts and Fun Activities)

My almost 3 year old son is OBSESSED with octopus, and I stumbled across this book browsing on Amazon. After reading the reviews I figured we'd try it, I'm so glad I did! The illustrations are beautiful and the story line follows the actual life of an octopus which was a refreshing change from the more cartoonish books we have. We counted different animals, searched for them in the pictures, and there are optional extension activities listed at the end of the book. There are also several facts spread throughout the book, parents can choose to skip them or read them to learn more about this animal. I learned things about octopus too! I mean, detachable limbs that grow back? How did I make it this far in life without knowing that?? We received this today and have already read it twice- this is a really nice book to nurture your child's love of the ocean and its creatures!

I am an elementary school librarian and this is an incredible book to use to help students learn about all of the different aspects of an octopus. Each page provides information on the octopus' predators, prey, and survival techniques. My students loved this book and were able to learn so much about an octopus without realizing they were conducting "research." The pictures were amazing and the text was informational but appropriate for elementary-aged students. I love this book!!

This book is so beautifully illustrated! Both my son and daughter couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen to the octopus. I liked that the book is just the right length for bedtime reading. Also I really enjoyed how the book is written as a story for kids but the parent can choose to read the italicized information or skip it. I've never seen that in a book before so i included a photo. Don't hesitate just buy it.

This is a very cute little book about an octopus that uses a variety of strategies to save itself from predators including sharks, a grouper, and sea birds. The clever octopus uses speed, camouflage, and ink to outwit the animals that are trying to chase it.

I found the artistry of the illustrations very appealing and light hearted. The blend of colors and textures gave voice to the mysterious movements of the hungry octopus. We gave copies to all the neighborhood kids.

This is a really fun, factual book! My grandchildren loved it and were fascinated!

My preschooler loved this book! It's informative and interesting. I would highly recommend it for a child who is interested in sea creatures!
