Worth
This TV has genuinely exceeded my expectations—it's a fantastic piece of tech. One of the standout features for me is the Ambilight technology. It adds an incredible immersive touch, especially in my RGB-themed gaming room, syncing beautifully with the overall aesthetic and creating a more engaging atmosphere while gaming or watching content. Even when used as a PC monitor, this TV performs exceptionally well. Despite running at 4K 60Hz, the image quality is crisp, the colors are vibrant, and the overall experience is smooth and satisfying. For general use and gaming, it's more than adequate. As for the built-in apps, I haven’t paid much attention to them since I primarily use external devices or a PC, but I assume they function well enough for most users. Since I haven’t encountered any issues or faults so far, I’m completely satisfied with this purchase. Overall, this TV is an excellent addition to any gaming or entertainment setup. Highly recommended. 👍

First week - Completely Satisfied
I bought the model 65PUS8109/12. My first week with this TV has been amazing. The ambient lights make a huge difference, it’s unbelievable nice watching movies with this feature on. The OS is faster than my previous TV Samsung 2021, doesn’t crash or get stuck, so having read reviews complaining about the new Philips OS performance, I wouldn’t agree with them, however as people's expectations aren’t all the same, I can understand their point of view, as it’s not very very fast, but still far better than my previous Samsung 2021 TV. The images quality is very good compared to how much I spent (£599 of offer). The sound is great and intense. I just found a little scratch on the front, which was coming from the factory, as there was the film protection on top, but it didn’t bother me too much. One thing a noticed on the Amazon advert is that the controller doesn’t have the Disney+ button, as one of the images shows, so check the Philips website to see the actual controller this TV has. I can’t say anything about longevity of this TV, I’ll update my review if anything of relevance comes out.

Ambilight looks nice - rest of it is useless.
I've had this tv just over a year, and it's time to write a full on review. I got it because it was well priced for a large screen, and I thought the ambilight would be cool. Which is definitely is. When you watch a show or movie, it paints the wall behind the screen with light, so it feels like the action is spilling out. Unfortunately, that's about all that's good about it. It runs android, like many smart TV's but is slow as tar rolling uphill. The apps frequently crash or not respond at all. There seems to be only a tiny amount of space, so updating the software is sometimes limited to having to delete apps. I don't even have any obscure apps, it's basic things like Netflix or Amazon Prime. Disney + didn't work at all. It just lagged and the screen froze all the time (and yes, my internet connection is fine). On a few instances the TV has stopped responding altogether and I've had to uninstall latest updates to go back to factory settings, or do that on individual apps for it to work again. Also, it randomly turns off every now and then, for no reason at all. Terribly disappointed, won't ever buy a Phillips TV again.

Great option to run with a gaming console
I have had this tv for about 5 months now and it has matched my expectations and I think is very good value if it fits your circumstances as it does mine. The picture quality is decent but seems a little jumpy for fast paced sports but I do watch a fair amount of sport and it’s not noticeable enough to be annoying in my opinion. This tv lacks smart tv capabilities and the chip in this tv is probably not very good compared to more expensive ones so can be a bit slow and glitchy if you ran YouTube app from the native software on the tv for instance. which is why it is cheap but if you use a gaming console as the brains of the operation to run your entertainment system this will not be an issue at all. The ambi lights are gimmicky but that being said even after the novelty wore off I still turn it on for certain scenarios and it’s a cool feature to have.

Dolby Atmos and Vision
This is my first review on Amazon and feel like writing one. So after researching for upgrade on tv, in this price range, I eventually went for this Philips tv with Dolby Atmos and Vision with ambilight. I didn’t want to spend too much on a Oled tv but wanted to have Dolby etc. let me just say it’s very good tv, the sound from it alone is good, that good I had soundbar and sold it on. Yes a tv with good sound. Ok not real basey but enough for me. Once all setting for vision and sound set up, the vision side of it is good yes even black is black if set up right. Hooked up to a 4k stream box currently Apple TV box, it very sharp picture. Do,some test vids on you tube with 4k hdr and see what mean. I don’t use the tv apps or any thing else as tvs smart apps can be but slow to respond with remote so don’t use that and same on other tvs as well. The ambilight is brilliant one main reason went for this tv as some thing different to experience instead of generic tv. So it works with what ever watching and scene. For example if dark scene on screen and some shines a light and moves around so does the led lights at back of tv move in accordance to where light shines on screen ie left or upper left then the led lights light up in that area adding some immersion and experience which I enjoyed. I first thought might be gimmick but it’s enjoyable. So overall great tv from good brand and the features = happy Value = 9/10 Sound =7/10 Visual =9/10 User experience = 8/9 Connectivity =8/10 Overall immersive experience = 9/10

Seriously let down by sluggish guide
Got this at half price on Prime day. Picture is good on HD channels and HD streaming services, but standard definition channels look pretty bad. Sound is good enough. IMPORTANT! Note that Philips sold 70% of their TV division in 2011 to Chinese company TVP and the remaining 30% in 2014. Philips-branded TVs now have nothing to do with Philips. TVP are the world's largest lcd panel manufacturer for computer monitors and tv's. They are not a traditional TV manufacturer like Sony or Philips. You are buying a generic Chinese designed and manufactured unit with a Philips badge. This explains why the display is the only thing good about this unit. It is worth keeping this in mind when reading the following as it explains the many downsides. The TV Guide and other controls are UNUSABLY SLOW, with the TV Guide in particular taking several seconds to move to the next page. The problem is exacerbated by the TV buffering the key presses, so after frustratingly clicking more than once when scrolling up or down, the guide will then skip several pages once it wakes up. How Phillips can think this is acceptable for a consumer products is beyond me. Also, the current channel is muted when you open the guide, which is really annoying when you're listening to one channel and just want to check the schedule. Ambilight wasn't a factor in buying, but at the default setting it is like watching TV in a disco. Fortunately, it is (sort of) easily turned off via a dedicated button on the remote. I say "sort of" because it is not a one-click on/off, but brings up the ambilight menu. It can be customised by digging deep into the system settings and the brightness and colour saturation can be changed for a more subtle effect, which is more suitable, but I'm still not convinced it adds anything to the viewing experience and is more of a gimmick. In fact, if light-bleed from the picture onto the wall behind was a thing, I'm sure manufacturers would be boasting various innovations that prevented it. [Update] In a dark room, and with the brightness and colour saturation turned down a bit, the ambilight does have the effect of spilling some light around the room, and can be ok. I still wouldn't go as far as to say it is essential, but not quite as useless as I originally stated. [Update] I forgot to add the remote control isn't great either, it's completely symmetrical, really long and skinny with tiny low profile buttons and GREY text on black background. Being so long, it feels uncomfortable and unbalanced in my (large) hands, with sharp corners. All this makes it really difficult to navigate the buttons by touch when watching in a darkened room. Because of the symmetric shape, you have to consciously figure out if you're even holding it the right way round every time you pick it up. This might all sound minor, but trust me, it gets irritating really quickly. They should redesign it with some usability testing included. As for ports, read the specs and make sure it meets your needs, as there aren't a whole lot. Currently having an issue getting it to recognise the Fire Stick plugged into HDMI3 (the other two HDMI ports are recessed, so you can't fit the fire stick in those without an extension cable). Overall, at the bargain price, it's ok, but seriously let down by the terrible "Titan" OS. I know broadcast TV is a dying medium, but (as well as the slowness), you get the feeling you're using some unfinished open source "Entertainment Centre" software where TV is just another option. I would be sending it back if I'd paid more. I'll see if I can live with the unusable TV Guide. If not, I'll sell it on. [Another update 2 months in...] The homepage on this tv now refuses to show anything 50% of the time - just a black screen. The problem with this is that it is the only way to get to the settings, including software updates. Essential functions such as programme info are buried in menus via the awful remote control. The muting whenever you open the tv guide, no page up/down on the tv guide, long startup times, and taking an absolute age for it to download the programme guide, doesn't work with a Firestick on any HDMI port even via an HDMI repeater that works flawlessly with everything else, etc. etc. In short, unless you're desperate just to get a big screen, avoid at all costs.

High quality and value for money
Top tier TV for the price. I noticed most negative reviews were in relation to the TV’s software. I plug in an Apple TV 4K which works excellently and negates the need to use the TV’s built in software at all. The screen itself is clear and high quality and the built in ambilight feature is an added bonus. Works seamlessly with anything on the TV. If you were to add Phillips hue light strips to the back of a regular tv this would be an expensive and premium addition. Would highly recommend, I did a lot of research and this tv is definitely top of its class for the price.
