If I use this fabric around tomato and pepper plants,etc. will the nutrients and water still get through to the roots?

Yes, absolutely. The fabric is unidirectionally porous.

Does this product have stripes located 12 inches apart to make for easy plant alignment.

YES it does. It is an excellent product. I bought a 200ft roll @ 60" wide. Used 100 ft on a shrub bed and put 3/4 -1" gravel on top. Looks great. Only 3 or 4 weeds in 6 months popping through at the edges. A quick zap with weed killer and that's all I have done to it in 6 months.

Is this the same as geotextile fabric ?

After a brief Google search, I believe it is. I really like this material for my plant beds.
