this meter will work great from around 2500 to 3500 ppm (salt)
Per the Product description, this TDS-4 TDS Meter (Made by HM Digital) has been calibrated at 300x10 ppm TDS (using a water + salt calibration solution). Thus, it has been given a new part number - TDS4TM-3000. TDS does not mean Total Dissolved Salt, but if you add enough salt to tap water to have 3000 ppm, this meter will read about 300x10 (3000). Nothing in your pool water will add more than a few hundred TDSolids, so you can rely on this meter to give you an accurate measurement of salt in your pool (ppm), may as well call it a salt meter. Yes, you can use any TDS meter to read your pool salt ppm, but as stated on the manufactures' website and on the packaging, the standard TDS meters are only calibrated at around 342 ppm. Your pool needs to have about 3000 ppm for the SWG to work correctly. Your digital meter should be calibrated with a standard that is close to the value you wish to measure (in our case, 3000 ppm) If you opt for a cheaper meter, be aware that it may not be calibrated to read at the 3000 ppm range accurately. Because of the 3000 ppm calibration, this meter will work great from around 2500 to 3500 ppm (salt), but don't expect it to be very accurate at low values, like for your tap water. TDSMeters.com has a pretty good explanation of how TDS meters work, and how they are calibrated. Photos of the product are attached, showing all the literature that comes with it. The meter arrived quickly thanks to Prime Day!

Best purchase. Accurate readings- confirmed readings.
So simple to use and so very accurate. Made a good construction and very good quality. Lightweight beautiful to look at it very easy to read. Gives an instant reading and you can wash it off very easily afterwards. It is a necessary item to have if you own a pool. You cannot depend on your salt cell generator to tell you the amount of salt this thing confirms it and gives you an accurate reading.

Died after 3 weeks. No support
Not a happy camper on this one. Died after 3 weeks. New batteries no help. Return policy is ship back to vendor at self cost. For $20, I'll just buy a different meter.

Works well
Works well. Great price. This is not the waterproof version. But as long as you don’t drop it in the pool you are okay. I leave it inside the house, and go out to the pool with a cup and bring a cup of water inside to test. Also, I keep a bottle of water with in, because it says to rinse the sensor probes with bottled water after use. I give it a quick pour with a couple tablespoons of bottled water, so the same bottle of water lasts a long time. Great value for this model. If you are going to store it outside in the pool area, then I’d recommend getting the waterproof version. But if you are storing this inside, then you can save some money with this non-waterproof version. Seems to be very accurate compared to the professional test at the local pool store.

Works better than strips
About 7-8 years ago I bought one of these and it worked well up until this year when some of the LCD bars started to go out. Not bad for $25. So, I bought another one last week and it is now even better as it is calibrated at 3000 ppm which is what we need for our salt water pool. I added a couple 40 lbs bags of salt (after a wet winter (rain) diluting our pool's ppms). It works perfectly showing 3250 ppm as does our salt/chlorine generator! If you have a salt water pool I would highly recommend that you get one of these meters. It's easy to use... Turn it on, dip it about 1" into the water (i.e. don't fully submerge it) and get your ppm reading. Easy. I hope this review helps!

Not sure about salt accuracy
I measure the salt every time after I do a cleaning of the pond that adds about 10% new water. At first I thought the accuracy was fine as we had brought the pond up to just over 400ppm to get rid of some parasites as the weather warmed. But when I measure, I get a variety of readings ranging from 485 to 395. I'm going to buy another testing kit to see if it is better.

Easy to use
Should have had one years ago for treating my koi pond , when doing a partial water change you can’t accurately know how much salt is in the pond without a meter like this.
