Excellent evocatoin of the Greek atmosphere from a sypathetic outsiders point of view. It is easy to identify with the characters if you have lived in Greece.

Surprisingly light reading
A fan of Victoria Hislop's books, I was surprised just how short these stories were. In spite of that they were well written and thought provoking. One might say "the thinking person's 'pink' book".

Interesting short stories, but nothing like her full length novels, especially 'The Retern'. Amazing novelist, can't wait for her next one.

Victoria Hislop – a rare gem of a writer
From the opening sentence of the first short story in this collection I was drawn into Victoria Hislop’s Cretan world. A world tourists had left to the locals and cooler weather. Her descriptions of places and people build vivid pictures in the reader’s mind. There are five very short stories in all, each one a confection of delight. As other reviewers have said, the author could have chosen to turn these vignettes into full-length novels: there was enough substance in them. Even so, I enjoyed the tales in their brief format. As a writer of multilayered novels with characters to become as familiar with as family, I usually prefer a sizeable read, but short stories still have a place in my affections. They have their own style. If you give these little stories a place on your bookshelf, Kindle or real, they might just captivate you. This was my first experience of Victoria Hislop’s writing and it won’t be my last. She is a rare gem of a writer.Jasmine SparksAuthor of the Dolly Series of books Dolly: Dolly Series: Book 1Dolly: Dolly Series: Book 1

A very short read
There were very few stories (only five) and they were very short and ended just as they were getting interesting. I probably enjoyed the Warmest Christmas one best as at least it was a rounded-off story. The whole book took under half an hour to read, and mostly consisted of trailers for longer novels.

A few great short stories
I really enjoyed these wonderful short stories, they took me away to a place far away. Unfortunately, they finished too soon there are only five, but they are still fabulous.
