Will this lens work on a D5000?

From what I could find online the D5000 uses F Mount lenses and this is an F Mount Lens so it should work fine on the D5000. I works on my D5200 which also uses an F Mount lens connection.

Will this fit a D3100

This fit my 3000 series, but the AF function does not work. Shame on me for not looking closer when I clicked - this one says not compatible with 3000-series...
