Q: Do the feet have plastic caps or something else that prevents damage to hardwood floors?

No, ours do not, but you could buy pads to go under them. We are very pleased with our two twin XL frames. They are very sturdy and our deep mattress fits perfectly inside them. (We don’t use a box spring.) I bought king size spreads to go almost to the floor and cover the legs. You do need to be mindful of the corners that stick out a little, or you can easily bruise your leg, but that is true of many beds.

Q: Can I use a box spring with this as I would like a taller bed?

Yes you can. Although you may be about 21”s or so prior adding your mattress .

Q: Can you feel the bars underneath when you sleep?

You can feel them if you get a mattress 10 inch or less. They fall out a lot too. You can really feel that when it happens.
