One day, the head of his gambling operation dies and Cosmo is summoned by the new boss, Gordon, played with good-natured menace by Robert Loggia. Gordon informs Cosmo that he has been promoted. Cosmo is now a hit-man. This is an offer he can't refuse, so hapless Cosmo is sent for hit-man lessons to the mob's No. 1 terminator, Steve. The always reliable, wry and intelligent Peter Riegert plays Steve as affable yet violent, polite yet lethal.
